Hey guys,

I have this project derringer that I've disassembled and cleaned. You can see how corroded it was from the pics. Now I'm trying to reassemble it. I had to order a trigger spring for it, but I'm not sure how to install it? The trigger doesn't seem to want to come forward enough to install the spring. The trigger appears to only be able to be installed one way. What am I doing wrong here? Anyone assemble one of these that can give me some guidance? Part number 13 in the schematic below.

thanks!

Have you driven out the trigger pin?
Yes, I'm reassembling it. It was missing the trigger spring when I got it. The problem I'm having is how to correctly assemble the trigger and get the trigger spring installed. Putting it back to together, there doesn't seem to be any room for the spring.

Could there be something in the hole for the trigger spring? Does the new spring seem too long or the wrong diameter? Where did the new one come from, is it specifically for this pistol?

I don't have the old spring to compare to, but I got the new one from Deercreek products and it is specifically for this pistol.

Does it fit in the hole without the trigger in the way? Do you have the trigger/trigger guard assembly out of the gun while trying to install the spring?

I've added some more pics to help show the issue. I'm not sure how to install the trigger spring given how much I'd have to compress it to get it between the trigger and housing. Also, I noticed the hammer will not stay cocked to the rear and the trigger doesn't seem to engage the sear to release it. I have not installed the grip, so I don't know if that will make a difference.

Thanks! Any tips on keeping the spring from falling out of the hole? I thought about trying to put some sort of adhesive there to hold it.

Thanks guys, got her back together! The hammer won't stay cocked to the rear, so I'm not sure if that's the sear or maybe part of the trigger is missing? I think I'll order both parts just to be safe, unless you guys have another suggestion?

My 10 year old daughter "helped" me assemble it and when done said she wanted to go shoot it. Life is Good!

Neat pistol. It has a cleaning rod but looks like the barrel turns off to load from the breach. Is that correct?

No sir, that is the ramrod that is attached. It uses a .440 ball with .015 patch and 18 Grains of FFFG Powder. I've uploaded some directions I found on the internet, in case you're interested in reading.
