Yard sale finds

My wife and I were heading out to a local gunstore in northern PA, we stumbled upon a yard sale in the middle of nowhere. The first thing that caught my eye was a red flat piece of metal and a wooden ball on a blued piece of round steel. Upon looking into the box I found a Lee o type cast reloading press, half of a Lee powder scale, a Lee quick trim case trimmer, a Lee powder measure and a 3 die set of Lee 308 win dies with quick change bushings.

I'm thinking that I hit the jackpot a second single stage press, extra set of dies case trimmer, ok I still need the trim dies, but for 75.00 figured I couldn't go wrong.

Then my wife held up a rem 870 30 ga slug barrel still in the package, didn't buy that though.

Anyone else found any gun related items lately.
 
You did hit the jackpot. I also found that press at a garage sale about 15 years ago I think. Came with .30-06 and .223 dies. Its all I've ever needed, and I've loaded tens of thousands of rounds. It might be slower than a progressive setup, but who cares. Life is too fast. Slow down, drink a cup of coffee, enjoy yourself.

Wasn't at a garage sale but was working on a storage/shop my last company was renting out. Looked on the shelf as I was trying to find a way to bring power to an exterior light to see a stack of Hornady die boxes and next to it a tote with a press handle sticking out. As the stuff was covered in a significant layer of dust I asked the kid who was renting the place who was the reloader. He said it was his grandfather but after he passed nobody had touched the stuff. I asked if he would be willing to part with anything and the kid said he would have to talk to his dad. Unfortunately I finished installing the lights before the dad came back and never had an excuse to go back before I left that employment.

The town my dad lives in had yard sales last week but with the weather not many had them and I didn't get a chance to check any out. I sold a few old fishing does that were worn out, would have brought more stuff to sell but forgot about it lol.

I did pick up 2 nice oil lamps there nice to have around, I'd like a nice rail road type for fishing. I never seen much gun stuff at yard sales, maybe old clothes or a old tree stand. Almost like it's frowned upon to sell that type of stuff here.

I found an old new stock RCBS Rock Chucker at a yard sale. It was a light powder green and since I never saw a Rock Chucker in anything but gloss darker green I wasn't sure what I was getting. I got them down to under $100 so I bought it. I contacted RCBS and found out it was an original Rock Chucker and a very solid press. It had everything in the box so I got a good deal IMO.

I've picked up quite a few things at yard sales, like a nib mec 600 shot shell loader in 20 ga. I did get an HR 12 ga single shot 12 ga and a beeman k2 air rifle, but living in Newyorkistan its frowned upon by his "royal majesty" coumo.

Well it was in Florida. It’s a freeman’s state gun wise. Not so my adopted (wife’s) state of Rhode Island.
 
Lol, this is the time to hit those garage and estate sales. All those old guys who bought presses 'cause they were gonna reload during the '92 ammo and primer shortage are now retiring or passing away....and those often unopened and never used 30 year old packages are coming out of the closets. Just like 30 years from now, some punk will be talking about how he found a RL750 in a box at an estate sale that had never been used and he'll be bragging on whatever passes for a shooting forum in the future.

in 30 years I’ll be 73 and hopefully get the RL750 for $20 FBChinaCoin

I could still reload at 73!!! might get a robotic back of something

I was at an automotive swap meet (great places for gun paraphernalia and old woodworking tools) and ran across a guy with a Lee Hand Press and an older Lyman turret press. I inquired about them and made a deal. He then said he had some “other stuff” and proceeded to pull out, wait for it, 10,000 primers of various types, a bunch of 223 brass, a bunch of 30 Herrett brass, and two ARs. He said the show wouldn’t let him display that stuff.

Well I jumped all over the primers and brass. Aside from the awkward questions I would have gotten toting 2 ARs out of the swap meet I was across state lines and wasn’t going to go down that road.

I got all of it for $120. This was 2 years ago.
