I've noticed that the MSRPs on Ruger's current lineup of revolvers are now in the insane price range.

I have a feeling we're going to experience a bit of sticker shock with the new Ruger/Marlin lever guns.

Ruger has always had a 7% annual increase. That can be seen by the popularity of economy guns including the the Ruger Americans. The average Joe doesn't need a $1000+ gun to kill a deer, or a $1000 revolver for home defense.

crystal ball time: I've got a marlin 1894 I've been thinking of selling. how much time do you think before ruger releases something and do you expect prices on the old ones to go up or down at that point?

If ruger dosent screw the pooch, and I doubt they will, id expect the prices of the REMlins to be the lowest, Ruglins to be under whatever their MSRPs are, and JMs to hold a BIT of a premium, but otherwise go for about what they did before the REMlins really got bad.

I wouldn’t mind if they dumped 30-30 336s altogether….never had much use for it when 35 Rem, 444, 45-70, and 1894s exist.

The one thing I want to see is a 1:20 twist 44 mag and 45 Colt 1894s. Then make more of them in SS.

Then 450 Bushmaster 336s.

Bring back the 922M.

Modify the 39 to a 22 Mag.

Use the Camp Carbine design instead of their atrocious PC Carbine.

45 Colt 1894 in SS.

None of this as distributor exclusive crap either please. Normal production run yearly products.

I hope the JM’s fall on their face. Because I will be purchasing all I can afford if they do. I don’t care what Ruger makes. They aren’t going to be original JM’s.

I bet the 336 is the first. There’s no serious competition from Winchester any more, and 30-30 lever guns are selling like hotcakes in the “one caliber to rule them all when stuff gets banned or we have hard times” rat race. It’s probably the most bread-and-butter gun Marlin had. 45-70s and 44 magnums are sexy but probably not purchased by a tenth as many as bought a 336 in 30-30.

A trapper carbine in. 357Maximum.

Better balstics than the magnum, lighter weight than the 35Rem.

In truth you will probably see a 350Legend, which would not be bad.

ooh cant wait to see how they add plastic to a levergun AND make the masses support it. Hopefully iits not that.

Most logical would be a 1894 in .454, or ,357.... crazy but possible would be a pistol grip 9mm lever gun for $600 (twice the pre-remington Marlin base price.... Ok, maybe not, but I would buy one tomorrow.

Its going to be something stupid and easy. "Safe" but will sell poorly because market analysts only see what was, not what could be. What "could be" would sell, and sell well, but Ruger is publicly traded, and the SEC, and shareholders do not like risk.

Ruger likes casting and Beechwood. Even if they are better, and I'm not counting on it, the JM stuff is another class, and people will hold onto that as long as nostalgia rifles are a thing.

A 1894 or similar in 9 and 10 mm would be nice. Add a spiral mag tube like a rem 14-141 and do one in 5.7

The one Marlin rifle that really grabs my attention is the Guide Gun. If there's one gun that Ruger executes cleanly, it's got to be that one.

I'm a little worried about Ruger's stewardship of Marlin tbh... they can't be worse than Remington, but they are also fans of the cut-corners, use-customers-as-QA approach. I'm expecting the quality to take a hit vs the old JMs, but I hope I am wrong.

If they were releasing new models one by one, I bet they would start with .45-70, and then .357. The more practical guns and the older classics can wait for later. I also bet they will make one with space rails on it!
