Sixgun Nut
Hands down the .22LR, followed by the .38 and .44 Specials.
I have a contender in 223. and its an awesome handgun....been wanting a revolver in 223 .....if they got it right and was in the right platform , I believe it would be popular bigtime.......but for now the 44 mag is King ....followed closely by the Casull in the right platform.....Well, I feel like a goof. Didn't realize what sub forum this was in.
In that case, .38 special for me. One of my best handguns I ever had was a k38 target, made circa 1950. That was one of the handguns stolen from me several years ago, and never got replaced. I do have a nice k22 that scratches the same itch however.
Pretty large to carry a 45 Colt, but in a few more days open carry will be legal in South Carolina, so I expect I will see some "cowboys" out and around. 45 Colt is certainly easy to handle when reloading, and I love my guns that shoot it..44 Special - though I could get along just fine if the .45 Colt was the only revolver cartridge in existence.
I have every one you have listed and would be forced to vote for 327 Federal as the only one in a small enough gun to include in my carry rotation. Love my magnums, but you know...If you had to pick your favorite cartridge for a revolver, other than 357, what would it be?
I reload so as long as brass and bullets are available, ammo availability isn’t a concern. I’ve been looking at 327 fed, 41 mag and 44 mag.
If I hunted with a handgun, my answer would probably be different, but since I don't, .45 Auto is my choice. There are other cartridges besides the 45 ACP?

And here I thought I was the only guy on THR with a Model of 1950 Military. (Although knowing this place, there are dozens of owners here who just haven't bothered to post about them!)

If you already have a 41 Magnum, you don't need a 44 Magnum. Of course lack of real "need" has never stopped me from buying a gun.41 magnum for me because I don't own a 44 Magnum.
I sure agree with that! As I stated earlier in this thread, it's the same situation with my favorite, the 41 Magnum - "current production choices of make/models are lacking." I guess they always have been though.32 H&R magnum is a distant 2nd, but the current production choices of make/models are lacking.

44 Magnum always wins on availability of commercial ammo (in less crazy times). I have to say though that I rarely shoot any 44 except reloads. I like my 41 because I can reload for it, and Penn Bullets provides just the right lead for it.If you already have a 41 Magnum, you don't need a 44 Magnum. I was referring to 41 Magnum, for which the Penn bullet is 210 gr TCBTB coated.Do you load the 295 yr Penn bullet ?
If so, would you share the load info?
Behind the 295 yr, I've been loading 12 gr 2400 for around 1050 fps from a 6" barrel.
