That's not a cure..... It's not even remission, It's a slight reprieve!

Empty wallet syndrome is easy to fix . I have learned to invite my wife everytime I go to gunshops , turns out she is an enabler . I come home with stuff I had no idea I needed . She used to say " how much money do you have on you " ? Now she just gives me the nod , and tells me how cheap I am .

It happens.. When you decide that you like guns, and want to own guns, you go on a spree and just buy. Then you'll settle down when you realize that not all firearms are created equal. You'll regret a purchase or 2, but at that point you'll have an idea what you really want. And that is the first condition of gun addiction.. or did I just write an autobiography...

It is not a sickness, it is just the cost of fun! I think about 15 years ago my wife got into shooting and she has purchased more guns than I ever have, Many of them she gave to me as gifts. She used to go to the range every week while I was still working, but always kept me abreast of what she shot so I could keep up with range rounds. She even reminds me when many suppliers have sales, so I am always on top of component inventory. She is always with me when I go to the range and even pushes me about fishing. She reminded me last week that labor Day is coming up and to make sure the Ranger is ready to go. We do not get on the water during the summer, with all the pleasure boaters so she is ready to get after it asap. I am so lucky to have a great wife and partner in life! Always remember behind every good man is a great woman!

Well something my father always stressed to me was "Ronald, don't spend money you don't have" when it came to credit cards. :)

It's not unusual for new shooters coming into the sport to go a little ballistic with gun buying sprees. Just make sure other responsibilities come first. Like when little mouths come along, beanies and weenies outweigh the need for that really great, I always wanted one, new gun.

Naw, you just need a brief time out and a chance for your wallet to get caught up to your buying spree! It does sound like you've been busy of late so sit down, relax, and take stock of everything you bought. You've probably got some stuff you don't even remember buying! Get to know your new guns better and start saving up for your next shopping adventure!

Don't forget to take time to enjoy what you have. When they come too quickly, it's like Christmas and it's tough to give each one the attention it deserves. Savor the feel in the hand, practice field stripping and cleaning, then find out what ammunition it prefers. 'Tis a fine and pleasant misery.

That’s a great start on what will probably be a life-long pursuit. :)

Many of us have been shooting/collecting/hunting for several decades; going through stages and phases of gun buying depending on our focus at that time. As you gain knowledge and experience you will probably go through something similar as time passes.

As the guys here at Enablers Unanimous have already posted; don’t go so hog-wild that you neglect or completely put aside the essentials. Gun collecting is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time, do your research, save and spend your ducats wisely and you’ll get nothing but satisfaction out of your latest hobby.

Welcome… and Stay safe.

Just wait and see. You are going to need a BIG gun safe.
OH yeah, the one piece of advise I give my friends as they have descended into the madness is to buy a bigger safe than they thought they needed.
When they tell me they want the "10 gun safe" I tell them go for the 30. They have all come back later telling me I was right.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

But like a meth addict, you will find ways to generate more money to spend on shooting: overtime, second job, third job, selling stuff, spreading word you will barter for gun stuff, start looking at gun related stuff at yard/garage sales (Don't worry, you will start asking, "You have any gun stuff?"), make new "gun" friends, attend gun shows, start hanging out where other gun addicts hang out called "matches", start reloading and tell yourself you are going to "save money", etc. etc.

One sure sign of the "gun addiction"? You start spending time on gun forums. ;)

Ruh roh ... too late. :D

Gun addicts have been known to start dating other gun addicts and even marry them (Like me of 28 years).

God help you. :p

Youre right.. after ny mossberg 590 retro.. i realized i havent eveb shot my 44 magnum henry rifle.. my 1942 german side by side... or my 1874 sharps.. i shot the sharps with 37 rounds the other day.. and finally got to shooting my 44 henry today.

I realized im buying more guns thsn i shoot.. So im going to pause on the 590.. and focus on shooting and learning the 3 guns i havent shot or even cleaned yet.

Its just weird.. i never thought id be so addicted to guns that id buy one after another
