I found the cure to the buying gun addiction

Besides all the good advice you have received I have one more.

Before you sell a gun, put it in the 30-40 gun safe you’ll be buying and leave it sit for a month or so. Then take it out and take it to the range and shoot it, then decide.
I have gotten rid of more than one gun that I have regretted selling later on.

Remarks #5, by brunowbe referred to the planned. very likely import ban by the State Dept. -- (Sept. 7) / denial of new certificates, on ammo from a "certain country". The ban would last a min. of one year if it is enacted, based on indications.

Have you guys checked tonight's current prices for the lowest-cost US-made .223 ammo? I'm only suggesting to never get complacent.

* :scrutiny:Tula 7.62x39 is now about one dollar per round. I've got Lots of it, but just wondering how much the Bad News will affect prices on US-made .223, even .308; possibly .380 and 9x19 mm.

One of my buddies is freaking out about the ban, I hadn't heard till he told me. I havent fired a single round of factory 9mm in almost 2 years now, and I dont shoot anything else thats imported, but it certainly would affect any future purchases that I might EXPECT to shoot Russki ammo thru.

I just checked a few choices on a .223 search engine. Am. Eagle and Maxx--- is available, and the price seems to be about .60/rd., as some of this was weeks ago.

But my idea would be (if I still had a typical AR etc) to check again later today, in case availability starts to change. My impression is that prices could steadily go up for guys who switch from 5.45 and 7.62x39 guns towards more Use (or purchase) of .223 guns.

It's not "carved in stone" (or is it?) that the import ban will actually take place, but don't be surprised at all.... if it happens.

The wording's general intent on whether it will allow present importers to continue receiving the current types/quantities of ammo after September 7th, or even a few months later (yes, or no ? if yes, which companies?),
or >>> possibly<<< none at all from Russia, is not clear.

Loon Wulf: if most or all of it gets banned from importation (nobody can predict whether--), imagine trying to sell, or even Give Away an AK-74 in 5.45x39..........if roughly (they claim) half of this ammo in the US says "Made in Russia"?

Wait till you decide to start reloading for them because you want to shoot a bullet not offered in factory ammo, or to see just what kind of accuracy you can get out of it with a carefully tailored load. Reloading is a whole bother rabbit hole you should avoid at all costs. But once you try it, then you decide to cast your own bullets for practice or subsonic loads, then you get into powder coating.......

Sorry dude, we are NOT a support group, but we will gladly help you spend your money when you get more.

You need more ammo. Seriously.

Thats 600$ on ammo just to shoot the guns i got this months. 300 44 magnum rounds for my Henry Rifle, 175 16Ga shotgun shells for my ww2 german side by side, 80 rounds for my 1874 sharps 45-70.

I just bought another 175 12ga for my mossberg 590 yesturday. The ammo is the expensive part. But ya i need more.

Besides the ammo i listed above. I have about 250 45acp left and only 40 or so lead balls left (240 caps and 3lbs of powder left) for my two 1851 black powder revolvers.

But yea.. Im working on ammo. I think im going to definitely pause on buying more guns and work on building a big stock of ammo. What im going to do after i shoot my two shotguns of course since i havent shot em.

I will just shoot my 1851 navy to burn the shooting itch. Because its about .15 or 20 cents to shoot those vs 1.50$. My outdoor range clark brothers in va.. if you buy a box of ammo you use the range free. And ammo is about 40-50$ a box depending. The range is nornally 25$.. so basically im buying ammo for 25$ and get to use the range free. Thats a good deal, i will build up certain calibers this way too

Wait til you find those LGS that do layaway. Id hate to admit the amount of firearms I've bought in the last 18 months, i know ive spent well over $20k

My "cure" is having entered the "4th Quarter". Its been fun, very profitable but all good things must come to an end. I am somewhat amused watching how govt encourages the public to buy guns by restricting them. Even inflation encourages mass accumulations as investments. The mere hint of restrictions or bans sends demand and prices soaring to the delight of manufacturers and profiteers. It also spurs buyers

I started buying them at auction in lots of 4 to 7 guns at a time. Local gun store where I did the transfer had to report transfers of more than 5 guns at a time to local LE. (city rules.) The third time I was there a police captain comes in. Not that he was checking up on me, but wanted to know more about buying at on-line auctions and whether it was worth it or not. We had a good chat. He said they don't really do much with the reports. If they're all the same or similar make/model then they might check out the name, or check with the ATF. But it was obvious mine were auction lots, coming in from out of town. He just remembered my name and the fact that this was the third time in a year I had bought.

Hi. My name is Alfred and I'm an auction addict. I've been auction free for 5 years.... oooh, look what Rock Island Auction has this quarter.

Seven? I can't even remember when I only had seven, and if my life depended on it I could
not reduce my inventory to seven.
You are in the early stages of firearm addiction, unfortunately there is no cure, it is a progressive
illness but not fatal. Just breath in & out & don't forget to save enough to eat.
The second sign of the addiction is reloading.
Then optics, then the most serious of all is the modular rifle like the AR 15 which can take the
richest of men into a spiral because of all the options you can put on just one and one will
never be enough.
Welcome aboard.
