I remember watching a bit of it, it was the Carbine surprisingly.
Carbine. It was essentially non-functional. Military Arms Channel did one too that was tongue in cheek in reference to the GT video, and it seemed a little better but only marginally so. I didn't watch all of either one so I don't know all the detail.

Well, so what was he comparing it against, and what was his philosophy of use, and what were his criteria? It's going to come up short on hunting, come up short on precision target shooting, come up short on personal self defense, come up short on combat, come up short on trigger pull, come up short on manual of arms, come up short on breakdown and cleaning, come up short on just anything he's going to measure it against. Two things it excels at: 1) coolness; 2) fun shooting. If those are your criteria, then go for it!!

I have a .45 and a 10mm Hi Point carbine, both in HTA bullpup stocks.
The10mm mags took a bit of break in, but the .45 ran fine from round one.
The factory stock is fine, but the top polymer rail is kinda flimsy for anything heavier than a red dot.
The HTA stock does have an aluminum top rail for any optic.
Hi Points are pretty basic, but they work, and have an exceptional factory warranty.

Have you run an extended mag in the hta? If so, how'd it run?

The 9mm ar carbines can fire out of battery. The 5.56 ar only fires from a locked breach.

Good story.
I was a bit relieved to hear him complain about the recoil...that was my number 1 complaint when I got mine and I thought I was just being a wimp. It didn't so much hurt my shoulder as it rattled my head and teeth to the point that I didn't enjoy shooting it! I assumed it was the extra play in the spring loaded buttstock but his explanation that it's the weight of the slide moving makes sense. Anyway, when I swapped out the HTA kit the recoil went down significantly and doesn't bother me anymore so I suspect the combination of a half pound more weight and better ergo's helped.

40 cal PCC's are fun shooters for sure.
I just put 100 rounds through my new 4095 Hi Point (40 S&W) with iron sights it is remarkably accurate. I have a hard time hitting a barn from the inside with rifles. The recoil was almost non-existent and an ol boy at the range showed me a trick w/ the trigger which I was not comfortable with. I was holding the grip in the same place on the beavertail I would on my handguns to avoid slide bite. He had me move my hand around 1/8" closer to the trigger guard and it made a world of difference in feel and comfort and accuracy. Love the carbine and was stunned at the warranty.

Ive heard good and bad as i was thinking of getting one years ago. Before you get one watch the video done by "Garand Thumb" on youtube, it was eye-opening
Unfortunately NY is making just about EVERYTHING non compliant. My cousin is a NY State Trooper who resigned over Covid and even HE couldn't get approval for some rifles before he retired.

The worst part unlike other states with these bans they have straight forward rules, my won't approve any complaint guns. There are few guns that can be made featureless, when other states can use a fin on a pistol grip for example.
Just took my new Hi-Point 9 mm to range. When magazine loaded no malfunction. But I had to reinsert magazine several times until I could load bullet in chamber. I load magazine as usual push and make sure it flash with handle, no gap. What I'm doing wrong?
Try it with the bolt open?
Eta: with the new mags, I started leaving the mag loaded for a good while to break in the new spring, it could be that there's just too much pressure to get that final click, alternative idea would be load -1.
What he said! And this isn't jut a Hi-Point issue either.
Yes leaving new magazines fully loaded for a few days does help. As does unloading them, reloading them, and letting them sit for a couple more days. And if that doesn't work download by 1.

Disassembling, cleaning and lubing are a big help as well. I've had brand new mags that were filthy dirty inside and out, causing a lot of friction responsible for feeding as well as inserting and locking issues.
@not just hipoint, agreed, cz75 sp01(?),1911s, xd, pk380, SOME ar15s but usually the dominant offender in my limited experience (compared to the vast wealth of knowledge here on thr) are single stacks in general.

I like to clean, BASE (Break All Sharp Edges). and graphite all magazines before use.
I learned my lesson about loading magazines and leaving them sit for a couple of days with my Kel-Tec PMR30 and CMR30 mags. I would get occasional feeding issues with new magazines until I loaded them and let them sit for a few days. I now do that with any and all magazines. And yes always clean, deburr and lube (dry lube only) new magazines.

Here is a grouping test i did at 50 yards with my Hi-point carbines. The 40 is low because of the load i was using.
