No experience with the Bass-Pro, but I do use one of these from Alaska Guide Creations:

https://alaskaguidecreations.com/products/kodiak-c-u-b-with-m-a-x-pocket

Great piece of kit, not too big, not too small, holds both my Swarovski 10x42s or Leupold BX5HDs 10x42s, with room for range finder (neat tether feature), Kestrel, lens cleaning crap, and a small knife. The phone holder pouch on top also works well for a compass, knife etc. It's pretty quiet and the range finder pouch is very, very, convenient. You can get larger models sized for bigger binos, they have a chart on their site.

IF you're out in serious heat, any chest rig will make you sweat where it makes contact. I just remind myself how much wearing body armor in 120 degrees sucked....and then I'm smiling.

The Cabela's/Bass Pro has a solid back support whereas the Alaska Guide is mesh, so in theory a little cooler. Also, read the reviews on Cabela's...not too good. The rangefinder pouch having a velcro closure kind of sucks.

I love Kuiu gear and just picked up their bino harness. I got it along with an ammo holder. The make a range finder case to go along with it as well, but it is extra.

Do you guys find it bulky and a pain to get the bino's out?

Not with the Kuiu. The top fold forward so it stays out of your way for quick access to your binos or putting them away quickly. The fabric is waterproof as well. The rig is very comfortable. I've only played with it around the house, but it is way better than the Vortex it replaced.

I too have the Kuiu.
I can only say from looking at the pictures, but, I believe the Kuiu to be a little bit more streamlined than the other two.
I absolutely love my Kuiu system.
it is easy to get my binos out quickly and quietly and it is not bulky at all.
I have my rangefinder attached to it and I carry a rubber coin purse filled with milkweed for scent checking in a side pocket for easy access. I would have no problems recommending the Kuiu bino system.

As I posted on the other bino harness thread, I highly recommend these guys....

The flap is held with a magnet. It opens back-to-front. It's modular as well and he offers pouches that attach to it for various items.

okay, gentlemen I want your opinion. I handled the Alaskan guide pouch and a ALPS outdoors one today and my plan is to try and get rid of a pack or Fanny pack all together. My girlfriend was with me and says no way I can fit these items in there and that it also may make the system too heavy. I want to put the following in it. What do you guys think?

Binos-(Leupold McKenzie 8-42) hooyman folding saw, batteries, headlamp, folding knife, field dress gloves, rangefinder, and cell phone.

another concern is how well will this work with wearing a treestand harness?

Chuck-do you think the rangefinder tether is too short on the Alaska guide pouch? The one at the store seemed very short.

It's OK, cause it stretches. Could be about 4-3 inches longer though. IF it's an issue for you, you could always add an extension. Most of the laser rangefinders come with a short lanyard, just tie the tether to that.

As for the other question, probably everything, but the folding saw, IF all your stuff is small. The Alaska Cub Max has Molle loops on the bottom, you could probably strap the saw to it. I haven't used my in a tree stand, but I have used it while wearing a back-pack. No issues there.

Personally I'd go light on the bino harness and still carry a pack.

Well because I am such a cheapskate and worried about sweating I went with something completely different and saved about $75. I purchased the Rick Young bino harness with rangefinder tether. I tried it out last night and its pretty nice.

I just purchased a Browning chest pack and took it on my bear hunt in the Catskills. I loved it. My new Athlon Ares 8x42 are 7” long and they fit with room to spare. It has expandable side pockets that hold a cell phone and range finder.Comfortable and not to hot in the 70 degree weather. Best part was only $75. Brown and tan camo pattern. Even room for an extra box of shells. Will report on durability after deer season.
