I'm pretty sure that scopes is a fake
thanks for the advice, I am not schooled on the stock either not sure if it is some cheapo with cheapo bipod , just thought the price for rifle with a Leupold was a good deal and good deals are rare on armslist especially from a pawn shop,

Was wondering if was a precision rifle or a run of the mill 700 that just looks like it lol.

Saw this on a local armslist, pawn shop selling it for $900, Remington 700 .308 in 26" barrel with Leupold Vari-X scope.

I'm a lefty shooter btw though do right side bolts anyway if needed

Nice Left-Handed rifle. I'd have turned the front scope mount around, to create more space between rings, stronger arrangement. BTW, the mounts look crooked. Could be the image, but looks like they aren't quite vertical.

I think the action, stock and case are worth the price.

I'd be weary that the scope is possibly not a Leopold. Though the mounts are (and I don't particularly care for that style).

Edit: In light of @Legionnaire info, it may be a legitimate Leopold scope. But fakes do exist and I would have it vetted by Leopold after purchase.

The Vari-X III 3.5-10x40 LRT was available with 1/2 Min adjustments. I'd want to see the scope in person.

ETA: Had to do some digging, but it looks like this scope. Vari-X III LR/T M3 with illuminated reticle; 1 MOA elevation and 1/2 MOA windage turrets. I'd definitely go to the shop and get a first-hand look at that setup. Looks to me like a good deal; nice rig from the mid 1980s make that late 1990s or thereabouts.

If you are able to go to that pawn shop and can look at the rifle a lot of your questions will be answered. Can't zoom in on the pictures to see more detail but the rifle looks pretty good from what I can see. I feel pretty confident that it is the SPS model as I've owned two of them. As a lefty I'm sure you know that there aren't that many left handed rifles out there to choose from. If it is as advertised it sounds like a good deal.

Friends after reading further replies I went and got it thanks for all the info and links.

Remington heavy barrel .308 with Leupold scope that deems excellent condition like in gotboost link, and HS precision stock like in JD link and its free float, Harris SL bipod and Pelican case, $975 out the door. Biggest problem with testing it 500 yards and more is not having access to a long range unless I want to drive 100 miles

Everything seems legit I guess once in a while a great bargain can be had after all even from the internet. IMG_1720.JPG IMG_1721.JPG IMG_1724.JPG IMG_1729.JPG IMG_1725.JPG

Outstanding! Glad you went and checked it out. Thanks for the additional pics. We will now want a detailed range report.

Oh, and I agree with @Picher; turn the front scope base around.

thanks seems like I got a good deal, everything seems legit like in links posted by members. When summer ends I'll be back at the range in the meantime gonna get various match ammo to test, no I don't reload yet. I only have access to a 200 yard range (open once a month) which kind of short distance for this rifle but for now that will have to do.

Am wondering what exact model this 700 is and what year made. Bore looks good, scope so far seems good, we will see.

Front scope ring everyone is worried about is correct for the previous users needs, obviously he needed the scope back as far as he possibly get it. If said ring was turned around that would push the scope away from the eye . Funny nobody is mentioning that fake Leupold now .

I got basically the same deal maybe twenty years back at a pawn shop. 700 Sendero 7 mag with a VX-III 2-7 scope. HS Precision stock. Appeared unfired. $700. No case. MIne was right hand
