Bought a VP9 Match. Love the thing. Don't really know much about it. I've seen the VP9's for some time but not the match. When did it come out? Also looking for a mounting plate for a Holosun. I surprised it didn't come with some. It came with everything but the kitchen sink and red dot plates. Any info, please share.

The VP9 Match just came out in the April/May time frame so they are relatively new. I don’t own one so I can’t help you with the plate for the Holosun…but you might consider joining the HKPro forum — lots of helpful info over there!

I love the VP9 and how it fits the hand. I have grown to like the mag release. At first it was different, now I actually like it.

I like my VP9 a lot too but I still haven't got use to the paddle magazine releases. Probably from shooting too many 1911s (is that even possible!), over the years with their magazine catch. Can you describe your technique with activating the paddles on your VP9?

I am a paddle mag release guy. I far prefer them to standard buttons. For me simply using my trigger finger to drop the mag on empty is second nature at this point and much faster for me then the vast number of button releases that require a grip shift or off hand activation for me.

The paddle was what kept me from the H&K's for some time. I'm not sure but, I thought H&K came out with a button release to maintain market place? After seeing this H&K match, I decided to get this old dog to learn new tricks. Practice also comes from a few .22 Walther's. Bit cheaper. I think I'm a bit hung up on this frame style. 3 guns.jpg

My assumption is HK doesn't include the optics plates because the price would increase and there are so many optics out there with new ones being added all the time. Would you pay an extra $200 for a pistol that came with 6 optics plates but not the plate for your optic that just released?

As far as the paddle mag release goes, I love it! I have short fingers and run button releases on the right side since I'm RH so I can reach them with my trigger finger. The paddle means I don't have to swap anything over.

+1 on HKPro forum. I don't have any first hand knowledge re the VP9 Match but I have a VP9SK and I'm impressed with it.

I received a notice today about an optic plate for the Holosun on the VP9:

No promises - just passing along the info!

I've gotten rid of my other polymer guns, and now only have a VP9 as a bedside gun, and an XDs as a beater carry gun. If I need a light weight, but full size gun, that's the one. I'd like a Match, but have those bases covered by other guns. Enjoy that thing!

It's really a matter of how big your hands are. If large, the thumb side is easy to pull down. If smaller hands, your trigger finger on the other side works nicely. I really prefer paddle releases on polymer guns.

You've got 3 of the 4 best stock triggers there.

Well.... I replaced the Canik's. I was amazed how cheep and easy that was. The Accurized Shadow 2 is the nicest stock trigger I have. Second is my new Kimber Black Ice in 9mm. A tie for the H&K and Walther. These being stock. Now wondering who you think the 4th of my three your thinking of. Thanks for the thoughts!

Sorry mistyped, those are the 3 best trigger brands. I shot a PDP today, probably the best new trigger, shorter travel than any of the pictured guns, I was shocked. I will likely sell my PPQ and get a PDP.

The Q5 match is just tooooooo pretty to trade off. And, you can get the PDP's trigger and put it into your PPQ. But your not the first person to think the same. Lots of counter guys completely agree with you.

This one has my interest. I really like the modular grip setup that this VP9 shares with my P30. But when I hear about an HK “Match” I’m thinking about something hammer fired, I’d sure like to see a P30 Match.
