Midway has percussion caps

This percussion cap shortage has been very Willy nilly. Just bought two cans of RWS #1075 at my LGS yesterday and they’ve been completely out for what seems like months.
Almost considered making my own but looks way too tedious and they’re ugly and leave nasty residue according to the YouTube videos I watched. I like making my own shooting stuff but not percussion caps.

I got an order in for some right away. Good thing, too. They are now showing 'out of stock, no backorder'. Don't think the supply lasted 24 hours. I haven't seen any caps offered locally for about a year.

My local Wally World had CCI #11s in stock, and for a normal price of $5 for 100. Black Powder season is coming up relatively soon, so it's probably your best shot. Pun intended.

I have been making my own caps for several months. I don’t care if they are ugly, I only care if they work. After several different experiments I found a system that works well. I now have about 95% successful ignition. For my informal shooting in the desert this is acceptable. I still have commercial caps available if I need a more reliable cap.

Range this morning found a tobacco pouch and lighter. Log in sheet indicated who left it. Called him and offered to bring it by. Resulted in 1000 CCI 11’s for 30 bucks. Says he had another 1000 but couldn’t find them right away. Looking at his cellar work shop I could see why. :)
Now if I could find musket caps ……..!

Bought 500 1075 at grafs like 2 or 3 months back.. down to about 100 left. But luckily bass pro and cabelas both had #10 remington and 11 winchester caps. I got 200 of the winchester and about 900 of the remingtons. I left about 7 packs on the shelf for someone else.

Havent fired the new caps yet.. i hope theyre good. They look very dirty compared to those german caps

1200 should get me through a very long time lol. Now i just wish i could find 457 lead balls. I havent seen any in ages.

Back Creek Gunshop in Winchester VA. And quit whining about caps.

Plenty of musket caps to be had. I just received an order of 5k.

My favorites, Remington #10s, have been like trying to find a needle in a stack of hens teeth while being strike by lightning with a winning lottery ticket in the hen’s pocket, which is impossible since hen’s don’t wear trousers.

In other words, tough to find. I don’t even know if they’re still even being produced considering Remington’s demise.

I'm a fan of remmy 10's myself but RWS 1075+ are darn good caps. They fit great on slixshot or standard nips. The only negative compared to remmys is the rws are a little bit shorter fitting but the rws 1075+ are MUCH hotter then the remmys and tighten up my groups considerably believe it or not!

Ive got Slix shot on my working guns. I’ll have to try those 1075s thanks for the tip.

Can confirm, just now bought 6 packs of Remington#10 at my local Cabela's (Ohio) and there are still plenty left. Funny thing is I called just yesterday and was told by the gun dept. there were none in stock nor would they be getting any in. Was in the store today for something completely different, glad I checked anyway.

This is a c9mmon occurrence with basspro/cabelas.. theyre employees are idiots.. snd they dont scan or keep track of stock.

I wouldnt trust a word anyone of those dimwits say that works at those stores.. because ive noticed this at 4 of them.. and others say the same thing. Including you.

I got 10 packs and both stores had like 7 or so each left too
