There is no logical excuse I can come up with that would explain why you can't buy brass, primers, powder or bullets by any manufacturer from any supplier for say, 7mm magnum, other than production interference. Too broad a spectrum to claim employee shortages, material shortage, manufacturer issues, etc. Nobody is hoarding 7mm ammo.

Given the events of this past virus situation - I'd be surprised if businesses that ship were doing the same level of service they were before the pandemic came along.. Businesses that need workers - are really reaching to be able to fill their employee rolls. Lord help you if you're in an industry that relies on pieces, parts, or whole categories of goods that come from the orient... Those new car makers that can't get the computer chips they need... guys I know with new boats can't get motors for them.... my local Cuban restaurant can't get servers... The list goes on and on....

I'll stop here before I get political - but the gun industry (the outdoors industry...) isn't in any better shape than anyone one else... If you make a purchase and your goods get to you - yippee... At least that's my take on it.

Not really. I can't get parts delivered to the shop in a timely manner, can't get chicken after 8pm, and my free 2 day shipping on Amazon is more like 5 days now, no matter what I order. And it's all more expensive now. None of that has anything to do with shooting.

Stuff happens with any business; the real question that I have is how did Midway USA handle the OP’s issue?
I'll have to figure out tomorrow if everything is there and not damaged. Between working 64hrs a week and family issues I only unboxed it and laid everything out to start assembly. The frame is dark gray and scratched up really bad which I dont care but I am saying its defenitly a return item.

I only asked because lately I had the two issues and a buddy had an issue with stuff not being packaged when he ordered it. Its all been in the last few months too. More just wondering is midway going to go to the bottom of the barrel due to a new owner.

I bought one of their M1 carbines earlier in the year, and the packaging job on it was atrocious, it was loosely wrapped in bubble wrap and jammed in a cardboard box that was too big. Rifle survived fine, though.

Got another order coming Wednesday with a Trijicon MRO and some Troy backup iron sights. We'll see how they do on that one. The Trijicon should come in its own foam-lined hard case, and I doubt the Troys are fragile, so I think it'll be fine no matter what the monkeys decide to pack it with.

I know someone who ordered 1k bullets and the bullet box wasnt taped and opened inside the box and he lost quite a bit when they fell out of a hole in the corner of the box. I have recently got boxes that have no filler and stuff just falls around inside it.

That's been going on for years... trust me. They use styrofoam filler that gets pounded flat when 500 or 1000/pc bullet boxes start flying around inside. I've had boxes dribbling bullets while setting on the doorstep.

I wasn't aware Larry had stepped down, but it doesn't surprise me, nor does careless packaging and shipping.

Their return policy is more restrictive than Brownell's but OK. With all of my bashing I still find Midway to be a more than acceptable source of supplies.

What happened to Larry?

If I am not mistaken Larry Potter simply decided it was time to hang-up the front man apron and bow-out gracefully. They offered him a truckload of money for the company ... all of us would have done the same thing imho. He still makes appearances every now and then.

There are several other active threads just like this one on several other forums today ... most are complaining about 25% price increases and bad packaging lately, especially bullets, pellets and shot (and a couple of other heavy items mentioned).

The OP is not alone. A lot of these price increases took effect earlier this month, not everyone caught them.

The packaging issues with the heavy items has been going-on basically since Covid lockdowns began. Customer Service rep told me one time last year that they were having staffing issues and everyone was bone tired and worn out at the time.

Sounds like a large portion of working class America.

I don't see Midway being worse than any other retailer right now. Prices are going up everywhere and there is a shortage of something all the time.
(Midway just sold me some primers:thumbup:)

I agree that their return policy is more restrictive, other than that I've never had an issue with them.

Of the internet retailers on my list Midway has turned into one of the most expensive. I still occasionally buy from them, but it is not often. I do like their "in stock" notifications, but if they have it in stock most of the others have it also and at a significantly better price.

They sent me an email today, offering among other things, black powder conversion cylinders at prices more than I can get them from Taylor's and Howell's for. Wasn't impressed by that in the least.

My complaint about Midway USA is the amount of junk emails I am now getting from them. I've had as many as 10 in one day. Even though they have been my prime source for most everything gun related, I un-subscribed from their email list. Insane that they should feel the need to send out that many.

No, but why would factories dedicate time and resources to producing 7mm ammo and components if others are in much higher demand? It seems that brass/copper/lead is going to the ammo and components that are in higher demand.
There is a shortage of pretty much everything right now, including labor, which is leading to delays and availability issues across the board.

That’s all true but the question is, is it happening organically or is the response to the plandemic a way to mandate BS to cause shortages to save the planet to cause equality to bring on a new “system” of losers wanting free crap? No tinfoil hat to see that that is exactly what’s happening. It goes double for anything gun related since 2A is the root of all evil according to some people.

The situation is definitely being taken advantage of, and the labor shortage is manufactured in the sense that lots of people have no incentive to find work if they can stay home and make the same or more. It doesn't seem that 2A stuff is being specifically targeted in this, as it looks like other industries are suffering much more. But honestly there is no telling.

I like Midway. I order a good bit from them. It's hard not to when they have essentials on clearance and run free shipping.

BUT, IMO there has been a notable decline in the last few months and it is because selecting UPS Ground no longer means a brown truck will show at your door up on time. Their economy shipping involves a hand-off to USPS for final delivery which always ends up in an unknown amount of delay, and usually terrible tracking information. Something I know has been going on for a long time, but just started happening with my Midway orders.

It's really hard to say whether Midway is actually responsible for the decline in delivery service. They are the one's negotiating rates with the carriers, and it is very possible they said we want the cheapest rates at the expense of good delivery. Could also be that UPS said pandemic F you, this is what you get.

At the very least, without assigning blame, I've seen consistent delays now that my recent orders are coming via USPS for final delivery. YMMV
