I didn't mention it before, but the pic with the two high peaks, the one on the right is Long's Peak which is one of the 14ers. I've never done it. Some say it's not that hard, but honestly it sounds like quite a slog. Especially when you consider that everything not covered by trees is probably higher in elevation than we were.

Were you on Deer Mtn.? Because it sure looks like it. I did that one a few years ago before dawn with friends to watch the sunrise. They brought nothing. I brought this.

No. It was the Estes Cone. Which is not the peak I thought it was. It's south of Lily Lake.

Checked a few cameras, fixed an issue with a stand, and took care of a wasp nest.

Great week hiking the Smokies.
Carried my 415 41mag in a pack pocket and 605 357mag in my front pocket. Did not see any bears which is unusual.

41 mag has a 2 1/2" ported barrel. It will fit in a front pocket of some pants. It is a little thinner than my 686+, but fits well in the same holster.

I saw smoke rising from what I thought was our property a mile from my house.
I grabbed my 9mm and got on my Honda to check it out. ¾of a mile east of the house, a bobcat crossed the dirt road 200 yards ahead of me. It is only the second one that I have seen. He was maybe the size of my French Britt. Chocolate brown. Very cool to see. We get them on trailcams, but rare to see in person.
The smoke was well beyond my property.

Any idea what kind of velocities you run with it? I was just thinking that with that shorter barrel, a 10mm might be getting pretty close in performance to your .41 mag.

By the time a went inside for my gun, and to tell mrs where I was headed, the smoke was becoming faint. When I stopped to look for tracks at the spot where the bobcat crossed the road, it was even more faint. By the time I got out of the trees on the back of our property, I couldn't see any smoke. I suspect someone accidentally rolled a tire into a brush pile.
A funny side note:
I stopped and dismounted my atv at the spot that I saw the bobcat cross the road. I was unable to get my camera out in time to snap a pic of him, but I thought I might take a pic of his(or her) tracks. We had a rain the night before, but there happened to be a little gravel in the area where he crossed. I walked through the road ditch to the edge of the field, and was looking for tracks in the edge of the corn. Suddenly it dawned on me that I was , as best I could tell , hunkered down in the exact spot where a full grown bobcat had been only moments before. I remember thinking...."now, why don't you have a round chambered". Lol.
I gave up on the tracks, too much grass in the rows to get a clear ID or pic. I'm sure I found them, but not pic worthy.
I left to check on the smoke, and never did chamber a round.

I don't have a chronograph, but i'm with you on the velocity. A 4-5" barreled 10mm is probably close to the 2 1/2" 41mag.

Moved an archery stand. Fun, but not very scenic. Struggled through thick stuff with visibility measured in feet rather than yards. Finally found it and put it where I can actually shoot maybe 18 yards. Thick, thorny and tight. Lots of deer tracks and poop. Lots of bear poop as well. The 3" 65 in a Simply Rugged pancake was both comfortable and comforting, could easily have walked up on Yogi and been face to face at less than 10 yards.

This weekend we went for an overnight camp.
The saturday was overcast, but after setting up camp we went for a wander and learned the area a little, but didn't take too many pics because the lighting wasn't great.
The .375 Ruger Guide Gun wasn't my only firearm, but it was the main one.
And because I found a nice log to add some pleasing contrast, I took a couple pics.
Sunday brought colder temps, but intermittent fast moving clouds. So the lighting was a little better.
We followed one of the numerous streams uphill and found a large marshy meadow.
We decided to walk across/around it to the higher part on the far side.
Looking down from that point:
It was still pretty wet up there even in mid September.
Uphill a little farther, I though I could see a clearing through the trees, and guessed it might be a pond.
We even found some small Rainbow Trout in there, which was a little surprising.
The whole area looks like good Moose territory, and we certainly saw plenty of sign of them, along with some Deer and Elk sign too. At one point, one of the dogs went nuts barking at something by the campsite. Not the sort of noise he typically makes over people, other dogs, or ungulates of any sort. It may possibly have been a Bear. But whatever it was, we didn't get eyes on it, and didn't notice much of any predator sign, though we weren't looking all that hard.
All in all, it was a good trip!

It's the North West side of the Snowy Range in Wyoming. The front of the range is absolutely stunning (google it and you'll see) but I wasn't camping on that side. Maybe next time.

I've been in the Snowies, years ago. Very beautiful country.

You would had to drag me away from that trout pond!
You mentioned that you had another firearm besides your ruger guide gun.? What was it? ....If I may ask..... I'm curious if anyone else carries a mousegun or a b.u.g. in addition to their rifle(or shotgun) like I do.

I don't believe I've been to the Bighorns yet. Might have to add to the list.
The other gun I was carrying was that same G22 (converted to .357 Sig) from up-thread. It's a nice option for camping because unlike the revolvers I own, it can easily accommodate a weapons light. If it was only a day trip, I might have taken the G33 instead to backup the rifle, but that's got no rail.
I do prefer to carry more than one gun out in wild places, where a person is even more reliant on themselves than they are in society. And I think a handgun that is always on the body is also a very sensible precaution to accompany a long arm that may get laid down for a variety of reasons.

It’s called “The Wild” for a reason.
Just got back from visiting Michigan's UP. Brought 4 guns with me on this trip - AR15, Glock 19, Ruger LC9s Pro, and my XDM-10mm.
Weather was nice - cool in the mornings and evenings. Hot during the day. Mostly pocket carried my Ruger LC9s. I was hoping to see a Bear or Moose on this trip but no luck seeing either.
We hit most of the tourist traps to include checking out multiple light houses on the coast of Lake Superior, 1 set of Falls, plus 2 boat trips (Shipwreck Boat Tour and Painted Rocks Boat Tour). We also spent some time rock picking on multiple beaches. We had a good time. I would like to go back and see how much of the UP I can see without touching pavement with my Toyota 4Runner 4x4. There are miles of snowmobile trails that double as sandy roads during the summer.
As Illinois doesn't recognize my Missouri CCW License, I did my best to avoid Illinois altogether. On the way up to Michigan, I crossed through Illinois and then spent the night in Remington, Indiana. On the way back we drove through Wisconsin, and spent the night in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa all recognize my MO CCW.
