My first leather holster and it’s stuck. I can’t get the gun out and the leather is like 3 mouth old dry beef jerky.

HELP!

Instructions,what are those?
Tiny sheet of paper with 100 words at most.

instructions:
Put the barrel in the barrel side of holster, twist a few time.

Put the gun in the holster halt way, twist a few times.

that was it, heavy retention but I think over time it will work.

Softening leather is different from stretching leather to fit. Saddle soap and mink oil is what I use to clean my leather holsters. And it also softens them for when they get just a bit too stiff where they are not as comfortable.

OK, not having read any of the links, I'll tell you how I loosen up holsters. (You have to do this before you get the pistol stuck in it.)
  1. Put the pistol in a plastic bag, like a Baggie or a supermarket bag. It doesn't have to be sealed -- just cover the gun completely.
  2. Stick it in the holster and leave it there for a couple of days.
  3. Pull it out. Take the pistol out of the bag. Put it in the holster. It should fit.
I don't remember where I learned this. Probably from reading some instructions somewhere.

thanks! I’m going enjoy this holster! hopefully I’ll get some nice dark wear mark…. btw, Colt 1911’s are over priced and kinda loose. S&W 1911’s are very nice! tried a PC one this week… very good!

Just a fact from someone who works leather:

Leather only stretches over time. It'll get looser, and then it'll retain shape. Looking at the color, it'll buff itself out over time and wear out very nicely.

AL Stholman, the guru of leathercraft, had a very simple method. Submerge the holster in cool water and immediately remove it, insert the gun fully in the holster and let it dry. Back in his day he recommended wrapping the gun in a waxed bread wrapper as plastic bags and sara wrap hadn't appeared yet. I have made quite a few holsters over the years using this method and it has always resulted in a perfect fit. Don't lay it in sunshine to dry.

Liquid silicone on the inside will help to let the holster release.

Wet molding the holster will help some. Use hot water from the tap, submerge the holster and remove it, insert the pistol and press the holster all over with your fingers to shape it. Remove the pistol after just a few minutes and let the holster dry.
