World's TOP 5 worst AK producers

I seem to recall that NORINCO was set up by the CCP to manufacture substandard SKS and AK-47 rifles for export to the US.The monies were then used to fund intelligence collection efforts. Or at least that was the rumor back in the 80's and 90s. It appears that the production standards are consistent.
 
I think the PolyTecs and a few other things, like the Norinco M14's, and 1911's, HK's, etc, bring what they bring due to the bans more than anything else. Just like the NFA stuff costs what it costs these days, supply and demand, a limited number of guns available.
 
The article quotes Vladimir Onokoy of Kalashnikov Concern's Dept. of Military-Technical Cooperation.
Used Chinese Type 56-2 is $93 on the world market when average licensed built AK47 brings $400 used. Iraq Tabak is a "pirated copy" of a "pirated copy". USA Century Arms and Inter Ordnance AKs badly built. Ethiopian AK copies built of substandard material. Pakistani AK copies crafted in small shops with hand tools.

In my words, the five worst producers deviate from Kalashnikov's standards of fit, finish, material, attention to detail, parts interchangeability.

The chrome bore is not for rust resistance... Chinese AKs are valuable for collecting, not quality. Hell, most of the parts are not to AKM specs. The triggers are fantastic though! Every one needs a Chinese rifle in their collection:) The report is spot on about US built.

I disagree. I'll take a Chinese AK over any other (including Russian) any day of the week.

From what I've read, Chinese AKs took a dive after the US import ban, but were decent rifles till that point. I love my milled MAK-90, but all my Romanian rifles are just as good. My SAR-1 being my favorite AK, followed by my Romak 991 Khyber pass build, and Draco-C SBR.

Sounds familiar, but I wasnt thinking Beijing, something more local. Maybe this is all just another CIA front? :)

Finland still issues its AK varient, the RK-62 .
It replaced the very first issued AK's bought from the Soviet Union, known in Finalnd as the RK-54
In the early 2000's they bought both Chnese type 56's(RK-56, and 56TO (folding stock))TP) and east German MPKi's.(RK-72) and , for training, 10,000 Russian made AK-74's (AK74M)

Recently they bought 100,000 South Korean "Dasan Machinery co." who made AKM clones with M-62 Valmet features for their reserve forces.
The stored and still new Type 56's are there but they seem to have sold off all the East German rifles to fund the new Dasan AK's.

The worst AK's ever made were in garages all over the US.
 
I recall when the Chinese AK’s were all over the gun show tables, cheap. Some were fantastic quality. Some were obviously thrown together as cheap as possible, and looked like junk.
I’ll take my Russian Saiga over any of them.
 
I'm not an aficionado or an AKfile but I've handled and shot Type 56, Wasr10, Maadi and Saiga AK's. They were all well made from what I recall. For me my biggest beef with the AK is fitment and handling characteristics, in that regard the Saiga was the best and that's only because of the sporter stock (no pistol grip).

But they were all quality.

My comments (# 16) with the question marks were meant to appear very sarcastic, ironic.

The PRC's media might be less truthful than whatever bits could have been found in Pravda (= truth, in Russian), when I first began reading about it in 1973.
