That is one goofy looking cartridge. Very interesting.
What kind of velocity to you get with that bullet?
Goofy looking! I thought it looked kinda cute!
I have 2 different 30X357 magnum rifles, with 2 totally different loads.
Gun #1 has a 1-7" twist and shoots Hornady's 208 gr. A-MAX bullets @ 1,020 fps..
Gun #2 has a 1-12" twist and shoots Speer's 125 gr. TNT @ 2,222 fps..
With either gun and load shot from a bench, 5 shot groups @ 100 yards can be covered with a nickel, without any of the bullet holes showing.
I load Unique powder with the Hornady bullet because I find it to be the "quietest", as well as the most accurate.
With the Speer bullet, I shoot Winchester 296 powder.
I use Remington 7 1/2 primers in both guns and loads.
From a lifetime of loading, over 50 years, I match prep all cases in everything that I shoot. It may be unnecessary in some rounds, but why not get the best you can out of every gun and load you shoot!
