I must be in the minority, but I don't care for the Go Wild camo and burnt bronze at all. It could be because I had two ARs done in burnt bronze about 10 years ago, so the "cool" factor of burnt bronze has worn off to me.

My take is primarily for the weather proofing aspect of it than the color itself. It just so happens that it blends in great in the dry grasses I sit around in sometimes, otherwise I don’t care much for the color.

I've got the Predator version in WMR and that dang thing is a squirrel killing machine! I snipe them off my deer feeder in the back yard all fall long.
 
Got to the range with my one box of ammo today and this is indicative of the two groups I shot (I paid 45 bucks for the box of ammo and I still need to hunt).

I’m still in the field so I don’t have my calibers but I’d guess about 3/4 moa with the hornady precision hunter 143gr eldx.

I have a love hate relationship with them. I have the American Ranch in 450 BM

Hate: I had to be the beta tester and got an inaccurate gun.
Love: After sending it back it shoots 100yd groups I can cover with a silver dollar...which is difficult with 45 cal

Hate: Flimsy and light stock. The formed can touch the barrel with little pressure
Love: The flimsy and light stock combined with 16” barrel make it 6lbs 9oz loaded with optic.

Hate: Bolt doesn’t lock
Love: 3 lug bolt with no bolt/scope clearance issues.

Hate: Loud and difficult to manipulate safety
Love: Nice (but not great) factory trigger

Hate: Detachable Plastic Magazine
Love: Easy to load and it’s not a rotary.

Hate: Cheap
Love: Inexpensive

Sounds about like what id expect an American to turn. My best would stack shots, my worst would shoot 1-1.25 for 5 shots.....average was about .75
We still need to actually bench my dads new Pred, but im expecting similar.

And :neener: at you guys that dont like burnt bronze!

With my desire to hunt that meant i was at the mercy of my parents and grandparent to give or purchase a rifle for me to use and typically they didnt want to spend a whole lot. This lead to my first centerfire being a savage axis in .223 and later when i wanted to hunt deer my grandmother upgraded me to a Ruger American in .308. Despite my jumble of different rifles that have come and gone i still have not found rifles that shoot better than those had for me in the past. In my opinion, the ruger american has pretty much killed the standards for utility of rifles that are $400+ and really set the bar high.

This lead to me walking into academy and seeing the american go wild edition that comes threaded, ceracoated and takes aics magazines in my local academy for a price i was more than happy to pay. This particular edition is in 6.5 Creedmoor, of which i will most likely seek reloading advice soon enough.

I completely understand one cannot replace quality fitting and a gorgeous wood stock but if you need something to shoot they are one heck of a deal in my opinion.

My question to you all is for those who own or have owned ruger americans, what do you all think of them? Are you one for the classier things or is this enough to fill your need?

I have a Ruger American .308. Only things I didn’t like were the flimsy stock, and the trigger. Swapped the stock out to an Oryx chassis, Anarchy grip, and the trigger to a Timney. Love the gun. Accurate and easy. Even swapped some bolt parts out with Anarchy parts . Never getting rid of it.
 
RAP in 6mm Creedmoor. Dropped into a mag-pul stock with AICS mag format, currently wearing Nikon. Initial accuracy is encouraging enough to warrant scope upgrade. Will never win a beauty contest but feels good, shoots well, and is threaded for muffler. I am looking forward to pitting it against the Tikka T3 meat gun in 308. Tikka lite stainless was purchased for $440 new a long time ago, and wears a Zeiss conquest. Both rifles make the best of my modest skills and make me smile.

I was able to find some federal fusion 140gr for my 6.5 so later this week I will have another couple groups to show how mine is shooting. I'm hoping they do well, the federal fusion130gr 270s I shot last year were the best performance on game I've had of any bullet yet.
 
I got the Federal fusion out today and i apologize for lack of pictures but in a sample size of 2, it was shooting .85 moa groups and I couldn't be happier.

Ive had good accuracy with fusions, less impressed with performance on game, but most of what ive shot was relatively small...... actually RMR has the .264 140s for sale right now, might pick some up since my dads blowing thru my supply of bullets as fast as i can load them.
 
I have a Ruger American rimfire 17 HMR heavy barrel and it uses the rotary magazine. New rifle as of two months ago. Issues with extraction of the fired casing, they sent me new spring and extractor but it did not help. I Ended up polishing the chamber and there is no excuse for those problems. Ruger needs to address before shipping them out.
But it does shoot fine now and looking forward to prairie dog season. I added the flash suppressor as I hated the screw on piece that was shipped.

I relate to this. The first rifle I bought myself with my first job is a Tikka T3 lite and it shoots so phenomenally well that it kind of ruined my expectations for rifle accuracy forever. I have spent a lot of money on rifles that couldn't hold a candle to my box stock tikka. I have always loved polished walnut and gloss bluing, but I live in a pretty humid environment that makes them a choir to take care of and each new ding in the wood just makes me sad. I still love them but I am not really in the mood to add any more pretty rifles to the collection that I spend more time oiling than shooting. I have come back to appreciate durable finishes and polymer stocks.
