New little fun gun

I'll be very interested to get your thoughts. Cabelas had a sale on that exact size model last Christmas and I am still wishing I had picked it up for....around $325 if memory serves. I have been casually looking for a 22 autoloader (don't have one yet) and won't make that mistake again...

I have designs on shooting both with and without a red dot....did you feel like you gave up much with the short barrel length vs a longer barrel?

My only 22 auto pistol experience has been with long Rugers and a Walther P22....no trigger time with Browning but the reviews seem fine.

I'm liken 22lr more and more recently! 22lr ammo beats the high price 9mm these days (even though the price is coming down).

Had a Buckmark recently and it had a pretty good trigger and shot well! Although I didn't care for cleaning, mine had a comp on it and that wasn't fun to clean either.

Mine is 5.5" or so. I've had it for at least five years. It seems as accurate as my Standard and my Mark II, but maybe I'm not a actually a good enough shooter for the Rugers to really show their stuff.

I've had no trouble with the Browning to speak of, other than the need to check that the two allen bolts holding it together are always properly tightened.

My friend liked it well enough to buy one for himself after he tried it out.

That is a cool little backpacker; handy and reliable!

My Mk II didn’t need any trigger work when I bought it (used) but my Mk IV did. (It was a bit gritty new, I went with Volquartsen trigger parts.) How is the trigger on the Buckmark?

I’ve got its big brother, shoots vey well.

I had it threaded and did the Haggis spring flip which knocked a lb. or two off the trigger pull. Not sure if it still works on the newer guns, but worth Googling if you’re not familiar with it. Pretty easy to do and worth it. Trigger was nice from the factory, but this helped.

I like your thinking @Scoupe! I’ve had mine about a year now, picked it up brand new for a ridiculous steal plus rebate, and I’ve been very happy with it.

Those concerned about barrel length could always opt for a replacement Browning barrel in a 5.5” or longer, with many of them being under $100. I feel any longer a barrel in the bull would ruin the balance despite having grown up shooting heavy target barrels.

I immediately removed the magazine disconnect wire which helped the trigger pull (wasn’t horrible to begin with) and yesterday I ordered the Gear Box and Victory Trigger from Tandemkross to further clean things up.

I did have a few magazine issues last week at the range which I narrowed down to weak springs. I disassembled all 4 mags and stretched the springs a bit which eliminated feed issues this week. Not a great solution so I also have TK’s Green Springs on the way to replace them.

I think you’re going to enjoy both your BuckMark and having an RDS mounted, makes for a fun afternoon.


Tuesday’s range session, Browning vs Beretta. Virtual tie.


I have to qualify this; I’ve been recovering from Covid, had a friend drive me to the range while I was hooked up to an oxygen bottle, and any activity at this point sends my heart rate into the 130s range. At rest I’m consistently over 90 bpm. Not conducive to small groups and you can see where I was dialing in the RDS, then my 15 yard groups fell apart from fatigue. That’s 3 groups on the right target, 1 at the edge of the paper, then moved up and left, then up and left again for a shotgun group.
