THR Remington 1858 Club

This is "Thumper", 2005 production. When purchased, it had the typical brand new bluing, reddish looking (mystery wood) grips, and was just a typical sheriff model you would get from Cabelas. I antiqued it myself, smoothed the internal parts, lapped the bore, had the muzzle crowned, flattened the top of the front sight pin and cut it back at an angle so that I don't get glare from the sun back from it, replaced the factory trigger/bolt spring with a piano wire spring from wolff springs, stainless steel nipples and screws, synthetic ivory grips from arizonacustomgrips (on ebay). It's been a long term project, but much fun and many rounds downrange

I've got a couple.

The top one is a Pietta .36 from 1976. The bottom is a Rigarmi .44 from 1969. The Rigarmi is the same dimensions as the originals.

This one is actually a 2017 example. I’ve antiqued it and replaced the loading lever. My most reliable and accurate cap and ball revolver.

Just going by the front sight. Has to be a Uberti. Pietta front sights are like skyscrapers now.

Here’s mine; they’re both made by Pietta. The 5.5” was my second C&B (first was an ROA) and was bought when I decided to get back into black powder in 2007 or so.

Hello! Here's my 1858 Sheriff.





I modified this piece with a lighter mainspring and removable pin mod.
I might describe the latter mod in detail in a later post if anyone is interested.

Once you get so short with the barrel the pin no longer has room to come out. It will hit the lever latch. A hinged pin is about the only way to remove it.

There is an easier way.
A bunch of us on the old Remington Forum came up with this plan.

2021 Uberti SS. A fine shooter indeed.

She enjoys long walks in the park eating 45 colt brass with 6.5 grains red dot and 250 grain slugs. She also partial to 9 grains Unique

Is that pushing about 950 fps? I typically do 8 grains Unique under a 250 RNFP. 38 - 40grains 3FFFg is a fun load too if you are into smoke.

Yes around 900 ish maybe a tad more
