Retirement: Yet another reason to get a new handgun

Well, I literally just got off the phone with a LE Glock dealer up North and have a new G-43 and a G-45 heading to my receiving FFL as we speak.

Once they come in and I go through all the ten-day waiting period hoops I’ll post about how they shoot compared to others I have already.

Now I’ll have to wait a bit for the Colt revolver(s) and 1911…

Stay safe.

Sweet! I haven't had much luck with Glocks but I think I am an exception to most folks that way. Looking forward to seeing your new Glocks when they get in.

Seymour, I did "finagle" two retirements. Don't recall specifically buying any hobby items to celebrate. But I acquired guns and gear that interested me before and after both retirements. Life is Good:thumbup:

Ditto on that, Rock.

Hi...
I have been using RCBS dies for nearly 40 years. Have also used Hornady and Redding dies with great success. Never been pleased with the Lee presses and die sets I have bought, so I have decided to just use other brands.

And people think that talking to yourself is a bad thing.
Talking to yourself is fine. In fact, it's normal.
Arguing with yourself is a way for some folks to resolve internal conflict and, while perfectly healthy, should not be common for any one person.
Losing an argument with yourself is a sign of trouble. You might want to seek help at that point.

But, when a discussion with yourself turns into an argument with yourself, which you lose... well, you're just nuts. :scrutiny:

My plan for post-retirement is to sell off the last of my guns - save for a very select few: Remington 870 Police Magnum, Colt Lawman, Winchester 1907, Remington-Rand 1911A1 and Remington Model 30S .30-06 - then use the money to spend some time with my wife travelling the US. :)

Sounds to me like you have your priorities in order, Geo.

my gift to myself, retirement, silly money, splurge was a bond arms derringer. over the years extra barrels in various calibers and lengths were my birthday and christmas gifts to me. once or twice cheap used barrels from a lowball gunbroker bid came with a gratis frame. when ammo is scarce and expensive b.a. derringers are pleasant and challenging plinkers.

Thanks jstert, I like their options for getting many different calibers and different barrel lengths for the same frame.

I've been retired for 10 years now, bought a few new ones, and even built a few. Just because. Here's one.

Man, that is a looker! Makes me want to add a 1911 to my small collection. Thanks for sharing, Tom.

I've been retired for 6+ yrs. now.
Here's my last 2 acquisitions, A Sig Sauer P-320 V-Tac and a Springfield Hellcat OSP

I’m still hanging in there like a loose tooth & if they piss me off I’m going home. Been doing this for over 40 years & as much as I enjoy it we’re working in a different world these days that’s taking a lot of fun out of it so I’m kind of day by day.
That said I’ve been feathering my nest with quality firearms to enjoy now & later. Got me a nice Ed Brown Executive Carry to keep me company & plenty of other hobbies to keep me occupied-going to get there soon, one day at a time.
