Exactly... and that is just Wisconsin. Here in WV, people will quit jobs if they aren't given time off to go deer hunting. Lol. Kids get the entire week of Thanksgiving off school here... because it is the first week of gun season. They tried giving a half day on Wednesday, along with Thursday and Friday. But had less than 50% attendance M-W.
Me and a few Buddies have a Deer Lease in NC, I’ve seen tons of deer on the cams. But, it’s mostly a hang out spot for us.
True. If I had to wait until 6pm to go to BP, most of what I've picked up over the last few months would have been sold out. I'm semi-retired, and what little I work is remote. So I have a ton of flexibility. I was there when the door opened many mornings this spring. But that has changed now. I'll walk in there in the early afternoon on a weekend now and find primers and powder. Not all the time, but pretty regular.
Exactly right. That's what I figured too. It will be interesting to see if the primers sit longer at the new price or if folks will keep buying them. I still have 5K SPP's that I bought at $28 per K delivered a couple of years ago. Never going to see those prices again, most likely.
I am not sure what to make of this statement, other than to disagree in every way possible.
By Christmas if gasoline prices continue to climb those miles are going to become a bigger factor than the price of primers. I’m cringing at the thought of returning home in January, a 1500 mile drive.
Back around 2013-14, I put a lot of miles in for the search of components. Gas was in the mid to upper $3 range. Once I realized the cost of the fruitless unicorn search, I stuck to searching online and paid the haz-mat.
Exactly, this is part of the problem that the large percentage of people that shoot a gun very often didn't have more than a box or so of ammo. Prior to Husseins stay at the WH, I would wager that more than 50% of shooters had less than 3 boxes of ammo for any caliber they shot. Hence when all of a sudden they can't get the 4 boxes at the LGS to go shooting , they panic and buy 8 boxes if they find any at any price. We reloaders are stuck out in the cold because the ammo manufacturers could care less if they sell any primers or components at all. They are in business to make ammo and they can make much more profit by selling ready to shoot ammo. I just called a nearby LGS to see if they had any primers, they had none and the salesman said they hadn't seen any SPP in over a year. And this isn't a small LGS,they have an indoor shooting range and a great selection of guns and gear.
