Ain't Got No Primers

Problem is, for most of us imho, is not the higher prices for the three Ps as much as it is the lack of it on local shelves and having to pay shipping and hazmat fees ON TOP of the high prices.

Today I bought two bricks of #34s ... $234.00. That's $117.00 per 100 (includes shipping, taxes and hazmat fees) and that's absolutely ridiculous but I had to have them because I am about to do a big run for my service rifles. It is outta hand that only the big boxes are getting the primers, powders and pills. LGS stores are suffering for component stock. We're paying the price because, once again, big corp has us by the gonads. Things are just totally outta wack right now.

It’s my understanding that they are getting the PPP supply due to standing back orders. I’m guessing you got some of those brownells CCI 34’s. I got them to use in lieu of LRPM. They seem to have some of the highest price and fees around. I buy from them at times but I try not to unless I have to. Even PV, Natch and mid south are hardly getting any primers. I just hope the big two didn’t have orders being placed the entire time and honored as standing back orders.
Haven’t seen anything from Winchester, wolf, fiocchi or SB come up yet. Hopefully when the rest start coming along they will all start to come back down.

I just bought 2000 small pistol from midway for $150+14 shipping & hazmat

That's my problem no local availability

If we are reloading we are paying the price for them. At least I am. And online is the only place I can find them. There is a Cabelas's on the way to work an hour from home. My only hope is to luck out when they have them.

I'm a little bitter over the reloading component suppliers inability to react. They are right up there with the toilet paper suppliers. I used to think the better of both of them.

Crap. I just got primers and I must have fat fingered the order. I got LR instead of LP.
How can I sell these without having to pay another Hazmat? Can’t Craigslist.

Local gun show is your best bet. Are they large rifle Magnum?

No. I would love some large rifle magnum.
My only rifle right now is 300wm but I do have about a dozen years of ammo for that.
Ahh, I actually use large rifle magnum primers for 308 270 and 30-06 as they work better in cold weather and help with igniting harder to ignite powders such as Win760.

Yeah. My .300wm is strictly a hunting piece. She’s a bit expensive and brutal for regular range use. I’d do shoot about a dozen range rounds every year just to play with the 500 yard plates and two before deer season to prove the scope.

Dad has a big chungus muzzle brake on his Rem700 in 300WM and I swear my M1 Garand has more recoil.

I had some primers shipped from Brownell's, along with a jug of powder. They actually arrived a day before indicated on the tracking, and that was 3 days before the estimated arrival time when I placed the order. I'm just glad my wife works from home, because they came signature required, and we weren't expecting them when they arrived. Now, if I could only find the small pistol primers that I'm actually short on!

Shootingbot is alerting me to SRP daily. If you don’t mind paying 10¢ each for them.

The lack of primers is getting ridiculous. I stocked up about 2 years worth and figured I was good. Now, over a year and a half later, I am getting nervous that I still can't find primers for less than $.10 each.

I work with a lady that just quit from CCI after 14 years. She said the place is getting bad as far as hours and management. She said the turnover is crazy with most new hires not lasting a day.

She also said that the primer department is facing serious down time due to lack of brass. Primers are mostly brass and nickel-plated brass, and there is a shortage.

I have plenty of bullets and powder, but my primer supply is dwindling. It's crazy.

I will just say that if you have issues like the wrong primers/need specific primers or any of a number of things, then putting your state at least in your profile will help you get them.

Long time reloaders probably have what you need, read these threads, and have no idea if they can help you because you might live in China for all we know.

I am not going to say "I have extra xxx primers" because I do not want to sell them in today's market.

To charge their current worth will rip people off, so I hang on to stuff to help out people around me in need, or to swap for something I may need (350 legend brass, for instance.)

I'm not going to ship primers, so the key in the statement above is "to help people near me.". If I don't know where you are, I'm not going to step up I am not alone in this.

Google knows where you are already. So does Facebook, even if you don't use Facebook. So does the government. People who may be able to spend a range day with you or maybe swap some components do not.

Consider adding this info to your profile. Adding your state will usually be enough for someone to open a dialog.
