Possible new S&W M&P10mm

I'd be interested, not sure if they still make it, but they had the M&P45c for a while that as kind of between the M&P9/40c and the M&P9/40 full-size in terms of size - I thought it was a great size and I'd really like a 2.0 M&P45/10c like it.

Especially because oddly relatively uncommon calibers like 10mm Auto haven't gone up in price as much as the mainstream calibers, so the price gap for shooting them isn't so bad. .380 ACP and 10mm are the same price hereabouts.

I'll buy one if they do. I had a G20 for years before downsizing to a G29. I shoot the smaller gun just as well; it will work with the larger G20 mags and is more compact with smaller G29 mags in it. I like the 10mm round.

But I also have a couple of 1st gen M&P45's. A compact and a full size, both with the safety. I bought the full size 1st used and didn't care much for it initially. But decided to try one of the Apex replacement triggers. The difference was huge. It now rivals my 1911 for accuracy. I later picked up a compact, also used, and replaced the trigger on it with similar results.

The trigger is so light I wouldn't want it on a version without the safety. If Smith offers a 10mm with the safety I'll buy it. And if it proves to work as well as the 45's might end up selling the Glock.

Well now -- not a radical game-changer, but the M&P fits my hand much better than the Glock, so I'd definitely be interested. The price point of the M&Ps is typically very good, and the 2.0s are very good pistols.

I’ve got a backlog of firearms on my to-buy list that another M&P would be a back burner choice. I still have my early Gen 1 with Apex trigger, sold my 9c and 9L to fund a divorce but wish I’d kept them as well. Still, 10mm in a good platform...put it on the list.

The S&W sales guy was in town recently and wouldn't say much, but yeah..there's an M&P10 coming.

There doesn't appear to be an M&P45c anymore with the 8-round capacity, just the one with the shorter barrel but full grip. Sadly that's exactly the gun I'd like in 10mm.

I am and have been a 10mm shooter since forever. Glock (long gone), Colt, Kimber, Dan Wesson, RIA, S&W, Springfield, Tanfoglio, and others long gone and discontinued and I don't think the S&W bean counters can conjure up a business case for one... and if they do, I think it will be stillborn and discontinued before long.

There are other 10's out there that suit everything a shooter would want including striker fired, and Springfield as well as Glock have already done that with a track record. As far as hammer guns go, I'd take a 10mm Tanfo in polymer any day over either. As it is I'll take a steel frame for 10, and leave the M&P to my .40/.357 Sig.

When's the last time one of the big gun makers came out with a 10mm poly pistol? Springfield? S&W may get the ball rolling and soon we may see a flood of poly 10's hitting the market.

Springfield's recent actions (a lawsuit over a freaking meme) have taken their 10mm off my list, so this is of interest.

I would absolutely purchase a fullsize 10mm M&P should they make one with a capacity of 14+1 or better.
If they do their part, I'll do mine.
Not likely.

I'd expect S&W to offer a large-frame 10mm M&P with a magazine capacity holding maybe two rounds more than the same large-frame M&P in .45acp ... So at best, 12+1rounds.

When Sig produced their large-frame, single-stack P220 series in 10mm, they could have easily engineered a single column magazine holding 9-, 10- or even an 11-rds, but instead chose to limit capacity to a stingy 8-rds, same as with their P220 .45 mags.

Heck, even S&W's old 10XX-series pistols, also single-stacks, offered a 9+1 load-out.

Ah yeah, no.

Funny that Sig offers a perfectly functioning single-stack 10-rd mag for the in .45acp P220 models; yet not for the 10mm P220s (?).

As far as factory single-stack mags having 'non-standard' capacities, you do know that S&W once made 11- and 15-rd 10XX-series mags for use in the FBI's model 1076 pistols?

I've seen and handled three of these elongated single-column 10mm magazines over the years. Other than the weird-looking length of the mag body, they loaded and functioned the same as the standard 9-rd mags.

How many SIG P220 versions in 10mm does SIG offer with an aluminum frame and a 4.4" barrel? None.

The only option is a stainless frame with a 5" barrel. I don't believe SIG feels capacity is an issue for their 10mm P220.

Wrong. ... Their buyers do, that's why their asking for Sig to make a 10-rd 10mm mag for they P220s. Check out the SigTalk Forums sometime.

That, and there've been complaints that Sig should've offered a 10mm model on a similar double-stack large frame like the .45acp P227 model. Easy 11+1 or 12+1 capacity in 10mm.

S&W 10mm will have at least 15+1, there is no way they will put out a 10mm pistol and be behind magazine capacity of Glock and Springfield.

S&W's M&P, Beretta's PX4, and HK's HK45 models in .45 Auto have smaller capacities than their equivalents from Glock, Springfield, and FN, because they chose a different way to stack rounds in the mag. They chose grip size over capacity.

S&W does offer an extended mag for the M&P 45.
