Too busy to shoot ... (sigh)

I am way down. My son has severe cerebral palsy and we have spent 3 of last six months in the hospital. I work full time as well so that means afternoons and nights in the hospital and days at work. It has been a challenge but we always manage to get it done. He is home now on long-term homecare and that has made things a bit easier.
Through all of this craziness, shooting, hunting, reloading, etc has helped to keep me balanced. I have not been shooting nearly as much as I normally do, but am lucky to have a couple of great shooting spots within 2 hours from my home. I have made it a point to force myself to get out there, shoot a bit and reset the brain. I have also been working on projects that are simple and I can get done in a short amount of time. My guns are also the cleanest they have every been! I have found that even an hour break can be very helpful.
We don't get out as much as we used to, but my son has always enjoyed shooting with the family. Basically he looks at the front sight and when he wants to shoot he lifts his knees. I pull the trigger and he can hit a B29 target pretty regularly. Here is an old pic with him learning how to shoot with my Marlin 39 Mountie. No ammo in the rifle, we are just practicing the basics.
So be sure to make some time to get out there and shoot it is good for mind and the soul.

I find that having three kiddos just sucks the time right out of the day. I put on recreational sports for kiddos in the area as well. It's hunting season. And well, I just seem to run out of hours in the day to do anything else these days.

I try to shoot every other Friday, it’s my day off and the kids are in school. Sometimes I have to skip a Friday for one reason or another, stuff happens.

I have my 6 year old for nights 1-2 weeks at a time and for much of the time every couple or 3 weekends because of the wife’s odd hours, and I take him out to do the active stuff so she can relax when she is off. I thought this counted for something but I would still get stink eye if I asked to hit the range when she is off on a weekend.
So now 99% of the time I take a day off during the week. Range in the morning, nice restaurant with a couple glasses of wine after. Home, showered, guns away, mags re loaded, and ready for daddy duty when everybody gets home. I get out every 2-4 weeks.
Got cut loose to shoot for the first time in awhile on a recent Saturday, and it was less thrilling than getting out while everybody else is at work or school and making a day of it with the time limit being when she picks him up and gets home after 5.
