Moonclips are always a good idea but in this case not required. Headspace on the shoulder. That said I think I would do 350 Legend before I did 300 BO. Shouldered cases can sometime bind up revolvers.300 Blackout in an X frame would be a much better option. You could get about 50% more velocity over the 327 Mag. The one draw back is that it would require moonclips.
Yeah, and that's unfortunate because I've had an idea for some time now for a wildcat. Magnum Research would have to chamber a BFR for it as it would require a long cylinder.Shouldered cases can sometime bind up revolvers.
I don't know about an N-frame, seems like it would be over-built. I would like to see S&W build it on either a K or L frame and offer them in 4" and 6" barrel lengths.
And just go right ahead and call it a "Titanic."N frame .22 WMRF 16 shot 8 3/8" barrel with scope!
Yep.Man builds things to prove he can.
That is a 221 fireball, the parent cartridge for the 300 BOI think a .300 Blackout necked down to .22 would make a great long range varmint cartridge. I could probably even have a rifle chambered for it
Ahhh, so someone beat me to it. Oh well, such is life.
I guess I need a new project. Maybe a .243 Winchester necked up to .30 caliber.
An S&W 327 in 327.
Obviously it will never happen because 327 is a dead round, but it would be great.
What you’re describing, I kind of envision looking similar to the cartridge shown on the left. I had put this together a few years ago on April Fool’s day, as the .40 GIS (Sig spelled backwards). It’s a 9mm necked up to .40 caliber. The .30 Carbine necked up to .41 or .44 Caliber. A 200 ~ 210 gr. SWC bullet, heel crimped.
When did the 327 die. This is news to me. Before the China Virus, when things were normal, 327s were selling faster than they could build’em. I think the cartridge has a decent following. Is it as large as the 9mm, no, but I don’t think it’s ready for a ride in a hearse yet either.
Henry is a great gun. I really enjoy mine, but I don’t think S&W is the coroner. The Henry is the only exciting thing to happen with 327 in forever. Even S&W gave up on it after the 622 and 632.
