Glock Warranty- Very Nice!

I have another thread on a Glock 19 Gen 2 that I just bought on Gunbroker. It's an NYPD gun and it came from the same academy class as I went through nearly 30 years ago, so nostalgia got the better of me and I bought it. Got it today and it is in very nice shape, but being a 30 year old gun, I figured a once over couldn't hurt. Called Glock and inquired and they said send it in and they'll replace what needs replacing, free of charge. Even the magazine springs. Can't beat that!

The gun has the NY2 trigger installed. I remember the trigger being heavy, but Good Lord, is that a heavy pull! I normally like a heavier trigger on a striker gun, but this is ridiculous. Anybody have any experience with the NY1 trigger? It's the grey/green unit? Do I have to change the connector, as well? Will Glock leave the NY2 trigger in?
 
I live just over an hour away from the Smyrna headquarters. Several years ago, I took a total of 6 Glock pistols down to have night sights installed on all of them. Not all my pistols, but also family and friends. I dropped the guns off around 10 AM. Went to a nearby gun store and killed a little time, ate lunch and got back to Glock around 1 or 1:30.

I believe it was $60 each for the sights. But while they had them all were dis-assembled, inspected, and any worn parts/springs/pins replaced at no charge. They reassembled them, test fired and cleaned them before I got back.
 
NYPD is getting rid of the NY triggers. All recruits are now issued Glocks with standard 5.5lb triggers because it improves their marksmanship scores.
 
Considering that the "official" Glock warranty is only 1 year, they do a damn fine job of taking care of you, no matter how far down the road you are, and even if you bought the gun used. :thumbup:

I know. The mags don’t drop free either. I remember that from back in the day. Are these the original all polymer mags? Another poster on YouTube who is retired from the job said he had to exchange his older mags in for newer ones marked LE Use only, but I don’t recall doing that. The mags I got with it are not LE Use Only, which makes sense since those mags didn’t come into the picture until 1994. I’m gonna send the mags in, as well, but I don’t know if I want them changed out. New springs for sure, but don’t want to take away any of the history of it. I can always buy new Glock 19 mags cheap. I’d like to keep the original ones.

Im gonna keep the night sights on there. They’re dim so they’ve been replaced in the last ten years or so. I don’t want new Glock night sights. I can get Trijicon to re-lamp them for $57.

I’m happy with the gun and I have a Ruger PC9 carbine with the Glock adapter so it will go well with that. But I still gotta admit the M&P 2,0 has a far better feeling to it. The grip feels chunky on it. I remember it well.
 
I've switched 3 Glocks to the NY-1 and 3.5# connector. You'd think after switch 3 I'd be confident of the color, but I'm not. I think it's green.

Quickly strips G33... Yep it's green.

Anyhow, the combo I use makes the trigger slightly heavier than than the standard setup, but the weight starts earlier into the trigger pull.

I have a rather early Gen.1 G17 along with the original all polymer magazines. Was at the range a few months back with it and found one of the magazines had cracked high up on the front of the mag. Managed to glue it back together and cleaned it up but I won't be using those mags any more. I have ordered new factory Glock Gen.1 polymer/metal mags and will be using them from now on.

Oh and yes, the gun still worked fine even with the cracked mag in it!

Nice! I’m glad they stand behind their stuff for what looks like forever.,, now if I could just get Whirlpool do do that for my home appliances :fire:.

I’ve always resprung my non-duty Glocks with Wolff 5 lb striker and reduced power plunger springs while using the stock connector. For me this combo works great and has been perfectly reliable.

I also resprung my Glock magazines with the Wolff
+10% springs. Again, it may be overkill but for me to do this, but they always seem to feed and lock the slide back so I’m happy.

(As an aside: 2 of my 3 new G-19X factory FDE mags aren’t locking the slides back on my brand-new G45 and a Gen 3 G-17 I just built from a stock FDE-cerakoted frame and an aftermarket desert camo slide. The new springs should be here early next week so I’ll pop them in and give them a whirl on Friday :thumbup:.)

Getting Glock to respring and check for other issues is a great idea, I hope it’s back shooting with you soon. :)

Im well pleased with all of my Glocks. Feel like I could lube em with gorilla glue and they’d still figure out a way to keep trucking.

Interesting indeed.. esp because three days ago I spent more than a Glock costs on a Washer repair.:cuss:

I hear you. I have a three year old refrigerator that has an interior LED light that’s shorted out and the ice machine makes about a cube a day Great stuff when it’s 110 outside :(.

I hope the washer works now :thumbup:.

As for Glocks, I just resprung a set of 9mm and .40 magazines and also a new-to-me Gen 2 Glock 22 with new Wolff springs all around. It feels like it’s good as new, I’ll try to shoot it on Friday for the first time. :thumbup:

Only hits count when defending yourself with a gun.
As one of the instructors at Gun Site said "you cannot miss fast enough to win."

That story is a bit overblown. The scores didn’t jump up that much, and shooting at paper doesn’t equate to a real shooting. Personally, I think the switch to stock triggers is a mistake. There at 35,000 cops in NYC. Training is basic at best. But the guns do get taken out of holsters frequently, if you work in a busy command. Doing that under stress makes an ND more likely.

They should have compromised and gone back to the NY1 trigger they had before they went to the NY2. The 8 pound NY1 trigger is a good compromise. I’ve been experimenting with the NY2 trigger in the NYPD
Glock I just bought. It felt very heavy on Wednesday when I got it. Feels much less heavy now. When I did carry one in the job, I always qualified expert.
 
I recently checked out a G17 Gen 3 that a buddy of mine picked up at a Tanner show. He said it was nigh on impossible to pull the trigger.

It was VERY stiff. Opened it up to find an olive NY trigger spring. I found a spare OEM trigger spring in my big box 'o parts and it runs like new. (I suspect that it had very few rounds thru it.)

Anyway, my buddy was happy, and gifted me several bottle of my fave Abbey ale in return for a $2 part and 10 minutes of work. I do believe that payment to be very generous!
