Hello, HayFever, and welcome! We all enjoy our shooting and our hardware, but you should find plenty here on air rifles and other non-gun weapons too. Be sure to check out the sticky notes at the top of each section, and try to be kind in your comments. The THR primer can help decode the acronym jungle, and gives a glimpse of our values and rules. We all understand users, BBQ guns and safe queens. Thanks for the intro.

Welcome to you, X62503. It's always good to hear from the land of freedom and unity. We hope you will share more of your interests and experience with us as you feel comfortable, but meanwhile check out the sticky notes at the top of the sections of interest, and scan the THR primer to help understand the tenor of the community. Enjoy!

Greetings. New guy here. Came here for the shotgun forum, really. One of the best ones I’ve found.

Lon

Welcome, Lon_E! There is a lot of experience amongst our scatter gunners. We are glad you found us and hope the group will be a good fit. Just remember to be kind.

The name is Chris
Can stand AR type weapons or Glock for that matter. I'm more of a traditional type and love shooting my BP and cap and ball stuff. Just bought a Hornady LnL AP press so we'll see how that goes.

Welcome to the zoo, Chris! We range in interest from ARs to Whitney Wolverines (rimfire pistol that resembled a ray gun) to charcoal burners and ancient edged weapons. We try to hang together so we don't hang separately, and we show respect even if we don't share the same opinions. Please check out the sticky notes at the beginning of each section, and cruise through the THR primer if you haven't. Then make yourself comfortable, you've found a friendly place on the internet.

No disrespect on the modern toys just like my old stuff. I'm the same with cars.:D:D

What do you mean by sticky notes? And primer?

So far from what I've read everyone seems knowledgeable and friendly.

At the top of each section such as general gun discussion there are entries marked with a pushpin near the right side. Those are usually things like FAQs or items of general interest, and they remain at the top of the thread titles in that section. One of those notes in the section I mentioned is the THR primer, which contains the basic method of operation for the board, as well as a few lists to help make sense of the terms and acronyms you may find in some entries.

I'm Hud (an obscure nicknane for Richard). I'm in central Cal.
I had been hanging out on a couple of Mauser forums, but wound up here looking for info. on an 1870 Uruguayan Rolling Block. Hooked up with Vic303 in the Great State of Texas, who has the twin to my rifle. Thanks to all on that thread for your help. As a result, I am going to get the dies and components to get the old smoke pole fired up again.
My primary arms are Mauser pattern rifles, altho I have others too numerous to mention here.
I got into reloading because my Son and I have several Mausers between us.
Besides the 8mm, I load .30-06, .308, .300 Savage, .30-30 Win., and soon .43 Spanish.
I am on the pm side of 61 and not married (any more). I've been de-primed twice, and I don't think my old brass could take another full length resizing.

GREAT SITE! I have felt comfortable and welcome here since I came on board.

Regards, Hud

Another Mauser fan , only 8mm no 7mm

Hi all,
I am new to the forum but not new to firearms. Comint to you from La Jolla, CA. I’m a long gun lover, but I have a glock 17 gen5 and a Cz scorpion evo 3 S1. Also have a, sig mpx gen 3, and a 1943 M1 Garand that I’m looking to sell to raise some money to support daughter. Lol.

Looking forward to learn from y’all. Thanks

Greetings, illuminaughty009! We are happy that you are joining up. We have a great variety of interests here, and a lot of experience. We hope you will enjoy the connection. We do have a trading post section, but I believe it is not available until we have some meaningful history with you. So sit back, relax and get to know your way around the place. All we ask is respectful interaction.

Welcome aboard, Mr. squeeze. We are thankful for certified instructors and those who help others start out on the right foot. Please make yourself at home and check out the sticky notes at the top of the various sections, including the THR primer in the general gun discussions area. We like to think we are one of the friendlier places on the net, and hope you will enjoy your time here.

Hello!
I am a former Airborne Infantryman and Army Ranger (82nd & 75th). I received my combat jump and CIB post invasion of Panama.
I am currently active on ARFCOM and a former Sr. Staff member (82ND-ABN). I'm glad to be here. My screen name, 1BSS means 1 Bronze Service Star, aka combat jump star.
Cheers#

Welcome to the community, 1BSS, and thank you for helping to keep us safe. You will find the ambiance here a change of pace from arfcom, but that doesn't mean either is bad by comparison. One objective here is to maintain courtesy and respect, two attributes which can be rare in the current on line environment. I will recommend that you check out the sticky notes at the top of each section, especially the THR primer near the top of the general gun discussions section. I hope you will be comfortable here, and we look forward to the benefit of your expertise.

Hello,

My name is Josh in Reno NV. Most time off is spent in the back country with my wife and 4 kids, one of whom is married and lives with her husband in our guest house as they prepare to launch.

I did not grow up around firearms and what started as back country defense as necessity has turned into a passion with the collection growing every year. My EDC is a XD .45, but I also love revolvers and recently added a 67’ blued python to the fold. My favorite desert long gun is an M1A, while my son has a scoped .22 CZ that makes for fun plinking.

the oldest boy is 16 and he and I try and camp 60 nights a year or so.

anyhow I really appreciate all the wisdom on this site, as I continue the passion. Thanks for a great community.

Josh

Wow, that looks like quite an outpost, Josh. Is that a Unimog? Regardless, we are glad you found us and we will do what we can to foster the shooting sports and collecting. Thanks for the intro, and don't forget to shake the crawlies out of your boots! :D
