Bergara B-14 HMR. Barrel on this model compared to aftermarket ones

Ive had and shot quite a few Bergaras at this point, id put them up near the top of the production barrel lines....least of the production guns ive used.

Against custom barrels, i think its a little harder to grade them.
Honestly Id EXPECT a custom like a Shilen to shoot sub MOA or smaller pretty easily, but that also includes proper installation, which can matter as much as the barrel quality.
With something like the HMR (my dads shooting an HMR Pro), id STILL expect MOA or better, but if it didnt (or didnt without work) i wouldn't be horribly surprised.....well I guess I wouldnt be AS surprised....

Begara were a noted premium barrel maker before they even got into the firearms game over here. As I recall they have a.patented technology either in the.metallurgy or manufacturing of barrels. They are quite good.

I have 2 Bergara rifles i have shot out to 1200 yards and another I regularly shoot out to 600 yards. All have mid-heavy barrels similar to the HMR, and point of impact stays constant even as the barrels heat up.

@LoonWulf : How about the point of impact not wandering after shooting a number of rounds?
Minimal on my dads gun. he dosent usually cool his rifle much.
After initial correction and if its not windy he can keep his rounds on a 10" plate at 5-600yds pretty easily. Ive only shot it for groups a couple of times, and didnt notice any stringing. Ill admit I dont shoot his gun much as I have to adjust his scope, and it can be a pain getting it reset for him.

Of the other guns Ive shot, non exibited it in the limited number of rounds its taken me to sight them and shoot a group. My own B-14 wasnt stupendously accurate (1.25 or so was about average) but it never wandered.

How good is the barrel on the Bergara rifle below compared to the aftermarket barrels such as Schillen (sp?) in terms of accuracy and the point of impact not wandering after shooting a string of rounds? Assume the aftermarket barrel to be the same profile/thickness of the Bergara rifle.

B-14 HMR (Hunting and Match) Rifle - Bergara Rifles USA
Not really a fair comparison, the Shilen/Bartlien etc etc are going to shoot better ,assuming all else is capable.

That doesn’t mean they can’t shoot very well, and well enough for your application
