Yes, I decided to build an airsoft version of my AR-15 for some cheap plinking and practice in the back yard. Apart from it being 14.5" vs 16" (I couldn't find a mid-length 16" airsoft barrel) everything else is very close. Airsoft on the left, real 556 on the right.


I also have a very realistic BB gun replica of an M&P 9mm handgun (I carry the real thing) which I use for practicing my draw and quick firing on target. It's nice because I can do this any time I want, in my garage! I shoot into a foam backstop that I built. It helps to reinforce the same muscle memory as dry fire practice, but with the added fun of actually shooting a target.

Air gun replica's are the only kind I'm interested in. I don't shoot them as much as I sort of "collect" them. They're replica's of guns I've never owned and probably never will, but I have a couple that are of favorite guns.

It got started with a Uramax Colt SAA. I have fired this one a few times, but it's mostly just a "toy."



Then I heard about this one. It was a MUST have. I've had a lust for a Thompson Submachine gun since watching "Combat" as a kid. This is about as close as I'll ever come to having one.

Once I had the Thompson, I HAD to have a 1911 to go along with it, so I got this one, a "John Wayne" commerative.



One of my favorite "I'll never buy one" gun is the Smith and Wesson Schofield revolver. But I can buy an air gun replica.



And last but not least, even though I don't care for a long barrel revolver, I went ahead and bought a Smith and Wesson Model 29 "Dirty Harry" gun. If they ever bring out one with a 4" barrel, I'll have another one.



They all function more or less like the originals. The cylinders open, you load with a cartridge. The Thompson fires both full auto and single shot. Air cylinders fit into the butt or the magazine area. Trigger pulls are much better than you'd expect for such inexpensive guns. I've got less invested in my "collection" than I do in some individual firearms. I just think they're "COOL."

Oh, I've got a M&P 9mm on the way this morning.

I think some of them can even take OEM grips, sights, and some other small parts.
I've considered getting the clone of my CZ Shadow 2 for backyard practice.

I bought three Umarex Barrett PX4 Storm as Christmas gifts for my three sons this Christmas. And I’ve owned a Walther CP99 for years.
The CoVID shut down starting in 2019 sparked a new interest as local gun ranges were shutting down.

I got a model 26 for Christmas when I was a kid. I thought it was the coolest ever. It wasn’t really built too well and the catch that held the forend broke in short order so you had to hold it back to fire it. My buddy had the 94. It was built a lot better I thought. Good times ( pic not mine)

I have the Umarex MP40 CO2-powered (two capsules) BB machine gun. Yes, it's full-auto-capable. Both the power source and the BBs are contained in the removable magazine stick, and it even fires from an open bolt, like the original.

It's hard for me to shoot well because I'm usually laughing too hard. It's that much fun.

I also have a Swissarms Blackwater (now sold as a Crosman model) based on the Beretta 84, I believe. No reciprocating slide, and the trigger is about as stiff as that on a P64 (and always in double-action.) It feels pretty good in hand, but it's not labeled as a Beretta replica.

That Sig "We The People" 1911 does indeed look nice.

I have the colt single action bb only. It's been a fun shooter. Here is a picture of my .177 CO2 M&P .40 next to my M&P .45. The bb gun is ok, not great. It dumps all the CO2 sometimes when shooting. Haven't been super impressed with blow back bb pistols.

I have a replica S&W 586...and a real one too. Both with 4" barrels.

The replica was sold by Pyramyd Air a few years ago. It's a good airgun but a poor replica. It's accurate, reliable and you get a lot of shots from a CO2 cartridge; but the trigger feels nothing like the Smith in either SA or DA. It also takes the older approach toward simulating a revolver: a rotating 'magazine' of 10 or so pellets that sits in front of a fake, stationary 'cylinder'.

The feel of the gun is similar to the 586 and the sight picture is too, so it wasn't a total waste.

I'm looking at the recently introduced Webley Mark VI with rifled barrel. Reports say it's nearly identical to the real thing and made by Webley-Scott. Don't think I'd ever get a chance to own a real one. Anybody seen one?

Here's my Dan Wesson 715s both air pistol and firearm. They would be also be tough to tell apart without the darker grey/black chrome finish on the Co2 replica. Also, the replica is weighs just 6 .oz's less. Empty of course!



Colt Commander 1911 (which is not commander length?) that was so accurate and powerful I decided to add a compensator. No, Jk... I mean I did add a comp, but not because of the power...lol




Then there's the Chiappa Rhino which is an oddball as most replicas are slightly to significantly lighter than the real firearms, where this beastie is like 1/2 lb heavier than the real version!!


This is a few of them I have, but I have more without pics just yet, or I need to find them..lol But yeah, cool stuff these replica airguns.

Umarex Beretta Mod 92 A1 with an SGS styled compensator (a pita mod, wouldn't do it again..lol) not only for looks (or not) but the extra weight helps keep the muzzle steadier during full auto.

Looks and feels pretty much like the real thing. Most of the weight is in the magazine though. On the right side, you'll notice a little red dot under a "button," which is the safety. I guess all BB guns have some kind, some more obvious than the others. This one isn't too bad. One other thing is the takedown leaver on this one doesn't work, so you can't field strip it as far as I know.

I was disapointed this one didn't come in a box, but a platic bubble. All the others came in a nice cardboard box that to me was a big part of the package since I look at them as a "collection" more than anything else.

One is a real Beretta, the other is a CO2 pellet pistol.

Found a Crosman CO2 BB pistol that looks remarkably like a Beretta Cheetah (Model 81/84) for my wife to practice with. It hasn't come in yet. For close in defensive shooting practice I am expecting good things.

I have two CO2 pistols: a Remington 1911RAC and a SIG M17. Both of them look and have the feel of being close to the real thing. I set up a back-stop for them for use down in the basement. They're a hoot to shoot and fun to have informal target practice with, especially on days when the weather is particularly nasty out.

Very cool, and you got the nicer spendy one. I keep looking at getting that one myself.....I might have to revisit now...

And I'm also a sucker for some Colt SAA replica air pistols...

I wanted the (semi)adjustable sight and no blowback so that was the way to go. They can be found for less than the full MSRP if you look around.

Yep, and also a rifled barrel pellet version to boot, so like you wanted better accuracy practice. And yes I have seen them for much cheaper than msrp, but my spendy comment was more referring to a nicer quality pellet version.

Most fun i have ever had with a airgun is this.

Very realistic thompson in semi and full modes.

It empties CO2 cartriges really fast on full auto though.

I have two, my son has one.

I have an Mp5k that shoots bb’s, it’s a CO2 powered copy of my favorite PDW firearm. I just wish it had a full auto and 3-round burst option like the original.



My second replica is a Glock 17 CO2 bb pistol.



This gun even has molded in “rifling” in the muzzle. Almost too real to the eye..

My son has a FDE 1911, that’s another gun that looks amazingly realistic. (I don’t have a photo of it.)

When I was in High School I had one of the .177 Crosman Python .357 replicas. I used to shoot airgun silhouette with the 8" barrel option.
