Your Dream Revolver

I'd like to see someone (Ruger, S&W etc) offer the same type of interchangeable barrel concept as the Dan Wesson. Having a medium or large frame heavy caliber (.357 and on up) revolver that I can switch from a 2-3/4" bbl all the way to 8" or even 10" and allows me to adjust the b/c gap would be awesome. I never see DW's for sale anywhere.

All you have to do is look on gunbroker. There are several for sale. Most sell for $1500-$2000 and up for the pistol packs. That should be chump change for someone who can afford an USFA collectable revolver to butcher up into a fantasy gun that won't do single thing better than the original gun.

It would be a whole lot more practical to use a Ruger 3" Birdshead for your fantasy gun. You are halfway there new in the box.

I’m pretty well satisfied with what I have, but I keep hoping Ruger will make a Blackhawk Bisley flattop convertible in .357/9mm.

Custom dreaming… I don’t know. The Bowen GP44 looks neat but I’ve never gotten into big bore magnums; I doubt my wrists would stand up to much .44 Magnum shooting. A medium frame six-shot .45 Auto Rim with a 3-inch barrel and fixed sights might make a nice carry revolver.

I just want a Ruger Blackhawk in 44spl with a 5.5” barrel that’s actually obtainable for a reasonable price.

But ok, if we’re talking custom, give the Blackhawk some bevels and general appearance like the Vaquero so it looks like an old west gun (but with adjustable sights.)

I hope the OP gets his dream gun. I would just like to see him get a model 10 like he wanted when we first started trading emails. A lot more likely than the Dream Gun in his post.

I just wish S&W would bring back out a Classic K-32 with a price that mortals could afford. And if they wanted to up the game a little and make it in 32 mag that would be even better. But no 327s. Too much of a good thing.

I'd like to see S&W re-release the Model 64. My Model 10 was the smoothest shooting revolver I've ever owned.

I can definitely get behind this. .32 H&R seems like the sweet spot.

The Sweet Spot. I like that. And yes it is. I have several 32 longs and mags and really like the mag rounds. Even when just pushed to a midrange power level that are fun to shoot and a lot more punch than the 32 long. I like a 100gr lead bullet loaded to around 1000fps from my Ruger single six in 32 mag. What a nice trail gun and load that makes. And all you need is around 3grs of Bullseye to do it.

I know S&W will never make a new K-32 but if they did I hope they would make it like the old guns with the lighter weaght barrel without all the big ribs and so forth. More of a trail gun than a target gun. My life would be complete.:p

A current revolver dream of mine would be a S&W Model 3 with cylinder and frame scaled down for the .22 LR cartridge. If you can imagine how a Ruger Single Six is scaled down from a Ruger Blackhawk, that's what I mean. This mythical S&W would be like an upscale H&R 999 in single action only.

My wish, search, dream is:

Ruger Blackhawk 4.6" barrel, dual cylinder .45 Colt and .45 ACP. Preferably a 3 screw and color case hardened frame.

Ruger Blackhawk 4.6" barrel, .32-20. .327 Fed cylinder would be a nice extra.

Ruger Single Six 5 1/2" .25-20

Ruger GP100 5" 8shot .327 Fed

In a past time the gun shop would hold an evening shooting event each month for their liked customers to play with. We'd pick the used ones out before close and that evening we'd gather at a local range to shoot them. The local gunsmith would also attend and bring some of his works to help promote his business. He brought a couple PPC prepped S&W 686 revolvers and I liked the slab sided PPC revolver. Wallet wasn't deep enough for the slab barrel so he did a similar tune on a 6" 686.

.38 special Smith and Wesson model 67 with light weight frame and cylinder and 5" barrel.

my dream doesn't exist, and i'm guessing never will.

ruger vaquero or similar gun that is double action. looks just like the vaquero/colt peacemaker, etc.... old, cowboy style single action guns that is double action. same size, same fit, etc...
but i want the transfer bar safety. if i'm carrying a sixgun, i want it to be a sixgun, not a fivegun.

You are hoping for a Ruger version of the Colt 1877; commonly called the Lightning and Thunderer. (though neither "Lightning" nor "Thunderer" were Colt designations)
I'd buy one!
