THEY’RE BACK.

Breaking news from a leak on the net that Fabriqud Nationale is going to resume the production of Hi Power pistols, this time with some upgrades.

If you haven’t noticed by now, Hi Powers have EXPLODED in popularity in the past couple years with many outfits starting production. Is the Hi Power the “new 1911”? I think it just might be.

Currently choking back tears to know this iconic gun once again is going to be made by FN. This is excellent news!!

I hope all these new Hi-powers sell. The reason everyone dropped them in the first place was because they didnt. Glad FN didnt go DA. Every time they tried that it bombed. Be nice if they brought out a 40S&W version again. These should be a hit.

New 1911... I doubt it. They can both exist in the same universe though. Wilson combat is probably licking their chops right now. Upper looks like a Sig.

Wow. Guess the nabobs in Brussels took note that the Turks and Springfield were having luck selling their guns.
Wonder what changes might be made, where they will be made, and how much they will cost.

well the locking system is different as is the exposed guide rod. Kind of reminds me of a Hipower mated up with a Sig. Actually I get a little of the Browning BDM vibe from it.

WOW! so glade I could not get the SA-35!

From the picture above, the sights look like they'd be pretty good, front strap treatment looks like an improvement, thumb safeties look good, but is that an ambidextrous slide stop? How did that get out of committee? Yikes.

Nice pistols that would have done better if not for the AWB. I loved the double action revolver switch. Wish Browning would bring them back.
I had the 2 tone BDM for 10 years, until my brother took it back

Ambidextrous (colloquially called “ambi” by the tactical guys) seems to be a “necessity” for the “tactical community” to accept a handgun as “fit for the modern warfighter operator lol! It doesn’t bother me, and lots of those guys know what they’re talking about.

I am reading some comments on other venues though were people are rejecting these outright due to the fact they do not appear to be cut for miniaturized electronic sighting devices so yeah lol.

Meh. Sounds like FN figures they can wring a few more dollars out of us.

I thought I read somewhere that they quit because their machinery was worn out and sales werent there to bother. Guess someone upstairs heard "ka-ching". :)

Wonder if they will upgrade the tooling, or just ride this last wave into the beach?

I guess if you've never owned one, or dont own one, its cool. I have 1911's and HP's, and carried both in the past, but moved on as things improved. Dont see anything here that would change that.

cant please everyone. I am sure thats coming down the pike later or somebody aftermarket will start hacking slides up.

Might be a neat gun for 30 super. Magazine only holds 17 in 9mm so it should hold like 80 in 30 super!

Seriously though... all stainless with millet style adjustable sights would make this a neat pistol in 30 mighty mouse..... as long as I could convert it to 9mm. Hopefully they built these around the possibility of 40s&w with maybe a 14 round mag. I am... kinda.... interested. More than I can say for most stuff coming out.

I get whiplash trying to keep up with your firearm love affairs. Saying this mostly in jest, but I think that Cooper is getting jealous, if that was possible.

17 round magazine is nice, wonder if that is the flush mag shown?

Most likely. Its doubtful these will take Hi-power mags. There is not enough room in those 15rd mecgars to squeeze in 17 no matter what kind of follower spring combo you use.

The purists are probably not going to like these as its more a re-visioning of the hipower. Looks nice though. I agree the ambi slide release is dumb. Ambi Safety should be enough. Curios if they use the same trigger system.

I have a feeling Its going to really eat into the 9mm 1911 fad a bit.

I always thought I wanted a Hi-Power but after I got one I was disappointed. I much preferred my 1911a over it. A couple of years later the original owner offered me $50 more to buy it back. I kept the holster and made $50 on the deal.

I have not regretted that decision.
