I've gone to several gun shows in the past couple months and enjoyed them greatly. I haven't purchased much, but there's not much I want. I mentioned what I bought in the 'What have you bought?' thread. I didn't say I saw a number of old friends and talked with several other new friends.
Haven't seen too much powder or primers lately. Anywhere - gun shows, gun stores, on line, anywhere.
I haven't seen any brand new 'modern' guns of any sort for less than wholesale prices. But I don't look for them.

This weekend is the "Military Relics & Weapons Show" here locally (Hastings, Nebraska @ Adams County Fair Grounds. I am planning to attend. Don't do much in the way of 'militaria' but enjoy old military rifles and handguns of the past.
Then the 19th and 20th March is the Spring Gun Show of Four Rivers Sportsman's Club (same place as the Military show). I help run that show, being a member of the club; and I have a table display. Nope, don't have any powder or primers. Have bullets, some arms, and a lot of 'stuff', which may or may not pass for junk.

Gun Shows are fun or not depending on what one expects. And how much one appreciates friendly (perhaps ugly as well) faces.
 
I went to a gun show two weeks ago with my grandson and a friend.
The prices were triple what you can buy on gun broker.
I bought both of my grandsons the Savage 22lr Rascle boltactions for Christmas a couple of years ago $149 each.
At the gun show they were $449.
On gun broker they are $169.
The Ruger 10/22 rifles started out at $899.

Ammo was worse then the guns, it was a total waste of an hour drive and $10 admission.

I miss the old gun shows pre-pandemic.

It's a free market out there, but at them prices I can't see them selling much inventory.

I hope your gun shows are better then the one I went to..
 
Oak Harbor WA. The dealers at the gun show always are higher then the big box stores but three times the price is absolutely ridiculous.
I have got great deals at gun shows when private people or the Pawn shops set up tables at the gun shows.
I bought a nice Ruger Speed-Six at a gun show for $325, a stainless Ruger Old Style 44mag 7&1/2" for $375, a mini 14 for $350. And the list goes on & on of great buys at gun shows.
This small gun show we went to just has five dealers and was way out of line on the items they had.

Over the years I’ve been to many shows with overpriced goods depending upon the current crisis or political climate.

Even though I was disappointed by the pricing, my heart would be filled with joy when I heard dealers complaining to each other how nothing was selling and that it was a bad crowd.

“Bad crowd” I thought, you mean SMART crowd.

Six weeks ago this happened to me, and the need for a Very different rifle variety Diverted my fragile mind into the HK-91 “clones”.

I “hear voices” :what:but now they are mostly German vs. Serbian, Czech, Romanian, Hungarian.
 
There's a semi-annual gun show in a small city about 20 mins from my house. The same outfit hosts shows in Columbus and Dayton. I've bought guns at the last 3 shows they've had in the small city. In fact, I bought 3 guns at the last show a couple weeks ago. All the guns I bought were used (and below what I'd have comfortably paid) but I wasn't shopping the tactical tables.

Shows 50 miles away by the same company are more inline with the posts complaining about prices.
 
I go to gun shows to look. One near me serves hot donuts and coffee. Only a decade ago there were many private sellers with fair prices. Now every table I walk by seems to be a dealer. I get delayed by NICS every single time, so I'd have to drive wherever the hell these people are based out of anyway. I prefer Gunbroker these days. Good luck OP.

My bad, my mistake, for some reason I thought you were talking about a gun show from a while back. I'm glad you found a jewel!

308, 30-06, and such hunting ammo has been $50-60+ a box at OKC and Tulsa gunshows since at least January 2021 when me and dad got our FFL and started selling at shows as we got have the cash flow to afford a shop yet... We have had some (as in a few boxes) hunting ammo in 308 for $38 a box and we can actually buy ammo at places like Academy and Walmart for $25-28 a box as just normal people so idk who would pay $60 for a box at a gunshow... Powder is utterly stupid priced IF anyone has any and primers are unobtanium unless you find a few sleeves for $15-20 per... We actually had a few thousand of #209 shotshell primers and we had them marked at about $9-11 per sleeve when everyone else was asking $20+ so we didn't have them for long lol.... At last falls Wanenmacher's(show was a joke BTW) we went as just normal people to scope it out for potential business and we were not impressed with the pricing... I saw many tables with old as heck beat up boxes of 30-06 marked $80!!!!!! Same stuff that is brand new at Walmart for $26...

I've heard the Thompson Center bolt guns are very good for the price! If they made a walnut stocked 7.62x39 I would buy one in a heartbeat....

I so hate when real life and responsibilities get in the way of my goofing off.

The "Military Relics and Weapons Show" is directed more at the collector of 'militaria' than firearms, but there are a number of arms presented as well. I do not collect 'militaria', but it is interesting to see and somewhat informative regarding various things related.

The Hastings Gun Show is the largest regular Gun Show in Nebraska. At last count we have 385 (as I recall) tables 'sold'. Some vendors have one table, a couple of them have five or six. Probably around 125 vendors represented. (That's my estimate and not suitable for betting.) We have vendors ranging from flint lock and cap lock rifles and 'mountain man' gear to last 10 year offerings of handguns and rifles. Not to mention telescopic sights and a couple gunsmiths. Surplus items (metal ammo cans, sleeping bags and the like). Reloading equipment and components as available. Not much in the way of fire sale priced items.
