1851 revolver with odd name.

EXCAM was an importer. I have an 1851 Navy also imported by EXCAM. Barrel markings under the loading lever indicate manufacturer was Armi San Paolo (DGG)

I know they were importing smokeless guns into the 90's. They also imported some Uberti's.

Mine was manufactured in 1978, IIRC (Date code AD)

Interesting thread indeed. I have a 25 automatic pistol that has EXCAM stamped on it. I may be wrong but I think they were located in Hialeah, FL.

They were. Hialeah was home to a lot of importers of guns.

Don't forget Hialeah park race track !! Guns and fast horses go together.

Yeah and Jai Alai was good too especially when one of the players decided he was being cheated out of a win.

I have a repro Walker that is marked Dart which was supposedly a division of Excam. Why would they set up a separate division to sell the same guns that they sold under their own name? Never have been able to find out anymore than that about Dart. Anyone else know?

Maybe ten years or so I saw a thread about my previously mysterious 1858 clone called a "Santa Ana". And learned that it is a quite well-made clone. But the company then disappeared.

Thank you Hawg. The spelling on that "Hiawhatha-esque" town name had me stumped there for a minute, so I gave it whirl. I need to check the other markings on the .25 Auto. Seems it was made in Italy or partially?

My father in Law and his father played jai alia professionally. Along with my father in laws brother.

Thank you Hawg. In my searches I came across a couple of sites that said that Dart is a collectable gun. Any truth to this or just someones creative imagination?

I wouldn't call them collectable unless it's a steel frame. Even then it would have to be in mint shape and is not going to bring much pf a premium. Dart revolvers weren't very good quality.

Is a Dart C&B revolver a collectable gun? -

There are folks (some on this forum) myself included, that have an interest in the older repros and the 60s and 70s is when there were a lot pf players in C&B business.
There are plenty folks that would be interested in a Dart C&B revolver for it's part in history and it's novelty since there are a lot less of them out there then Piettas and Ubertis.
That is not to say a Dart revolver is especially valuable or that one should expect much if any premium for it if trying to sell one, but the fact that it's a less common specimen would get some folks attention.
Then there are also folks who would have little interest, because they specifically want something common and normal like everyone else and may even wring there hands over the availability of spare parts etc.
So I personally agree that a Dart C&B revolver is "collectable" but more like the way sea shells or river stones are collectable than any expectation of cashing in on a fortune.

I have a Santa Barbara 1858 Remington. They are head and shoulders above other makes pf Remingtons and are made from ordnance grade steel.

It popped up in my EXCAM search but I did not investigate further.
Bob's Gun Shop is an ongoing business but I do not know about their EXCAM parts supply.
