is this normal for canik barrels?

i traded in one gun for a canik sfx rival. the trigger felt good. this is for range use only. i examined the gun closely and they allowed me to field strip it but the barrel was dirty from test firing. i cleaned off the barrel at home and noticed these tool marks . is this normal for canik barrels? i am talking about the machine marks at the top of the feed ramp. looked intentional.

man i carefully examined it too but the feed ramp had a little powder residue. this was the darkside rival. the gray rival was even $50 less though it had one optic base plate less(the one that still had a rear sight that can cowitness with a rds).

i traded in a cz p10f for this ( i still have my p10c) as i really liked the trigger. i hope it doesn't affect function and my brass. my last purchase was a smith 617-6 in Dec had to be sent back 6 weeks . aaaargh!

went back to the lgs to check the grey rival's feedramp but they sold it an hour after i bought mine. i did check a mete's feedramp and that was smooth without marks. Frank the Tank of youtube, their sponsored shooter has been responsive to my questions and i sent him some pics. if it shoots well and doesn't score the brass i will leave it alone. i am a little worried about the bevel and chamber support.

i fired 100 rds of factory 115 gr fiocchi and 150 rds of my 147 gr reloads. no problems functioning. there were some superficial scratches on the factory brass. next time i shoot it, i will chamber and extract the rd to see how much it marks it.

regarding the bevel, i resized some brass shot from my other 9mms and resized the once fired fiocchi and the reloads shot in the canik and didn't notice any difference. i will leave it alone for now.

i think shooting wise there was no issue. from a rest while zeroing, the holes are next to each other or on top of each other( though i used as few bullets as possible). it is funny how i thought a great trigger was all of a sudden going to make great groups right at the start. my first targets group was not different from my first target from my czp10f(since i have a video on my first shots from that gun).

i had to zero it from a rest first trying to limit the zeroing to 5 shots(shooting low and slightly right). shooting a new gun with a different grip and my poor grip had me using up to 60 rds before getting good groups( i suspect that was more of me having to wear gloves by then as my hands were getting cold leading to a better grip on the gun) and then i ran out of that bullet and then switched to my reloads which seemed to group different.

at worst it is not inferior to my old xdm 5.25 with a powder river precision trgger.

this is how the gun shot first time. you can skip to the shooting which is around 8 minute mark. the groups got better by the third target and then i ran out of those bullets. the trigger is nice. no malfunctions .

My Rival has those striations too. I notived them the first time I cleaned it. My pistol instructor's Rival has them, as well as my Mete. The TP9 SFX or TP9 SF do not have them. Based on what I am seeing, they are there on purpose. The Rival has the tighest chamber of any pistol I own, maybe they are there to help it feed better with a tight chamber? I haven't called Canik about it because after 1000s of rounds, I've never had an issue with any of them.

The one issue I did have was with the Rival add-on flared mag well which comes with the gun. Mags don't feed properly if you install it. My instructor had the same issue.I uninstalled it and it runs great now.

mine feeds well . maybe the flutes are supposed to help with feeding then. good to know.
