Lever action .350 Legend?

The whole point of 350 Legend is to use pointed bullets for better downrange performance. Those are generally not advised for use in lever guns with tube magazines. It would be possible with SOME ammo out there. But I don't see any company taking the risk of offering a rifle that would be dangerous to use with commonly available ammo.

Hell, I'd just settle for a bolt action 350 Legend with a smooth action.

The Ruger American in 350 Legend, IME, is a one shot gun, it's such a slow
and sloppy action. Wish that rifle could chamber a round crisply and cleanly,
like the M77 MKII can.

Henry makes their single shot rifle in 350 Legend, so I imagine it won't be a super long time until they have a lever action as well.

Don't know much about it, but my brother had an AR in the 350Legend. He picked up some Browning ammo that IIRC, was 124gr. round nose .355. Not suitable for hunting, but made me curious about loading it with a 147gr XTP. Maybe too fast to expand well, but would be suitable for tube mags.

I have a 350 legend AR. For a lever action .35 REM. 3-4 other rounds are preferable.

My thoughts personally. The .35 Remington just has nostalgia and history to it.
.350 is great for the AR, great cartridge for semi-auto weapon systems.

What about a Ruger Ranch Rifle/Mini 14?
THAT would be an amazing deer rifle.
Newer series Mini, .350 Legend, thread the barrel..wood stock to comply in those states whom shall not be named.

1. How many (affordable) modern lever actions are 55,000 psi rated ?
2. Win XPR Bolt action is failrly smooth. (Maybe not Krag-smooth... but jeeeeezz guys)
+1

tho the above-mentioned HLR is pretty affordable, and I could very well see them offering it in .350 legend.

Personally Id be happy to get a 350 Bolt gun that was built on the correct size action, and didn't use detachable magazines.....I might eventually build a blind mag howa mini, or get a Stalker and lop the magazine off just below the mag well....still not what I want but close enough.

For lever gun guys why not a used 35 remington?

Definitely will need to be crimped.

They need to be roll crimped ideally but since it headspaces on the rim it requires a taper crimp which, is a weaker crimp for preventing bullet setback. A Collet crimp may work though. I have not tried it.

Sure seems like a long trip around the barn to get 30/30 ballistics into:confused: a lever gun.
For straight wall states the 38/55 pre dates the 30/30.

Some straight wall states have a 1.8” maximum case length stipulation.

Gunsmiths have converted Henry Long Rangers to 450 BM, specifically a guy I know of in Saranac, MI. I’m sure a 350L could be done on a 223 Henry. Grizzly Custom does 450 BM Marlin 336s and somehow has managed to work around the crimp problem of 450 BM but that is still a valid concern for me.

This far in and nobody has pointed out that 350 is a rebated rim? It’s not an insurmountable feat but all of the current lever guns I know of headspace off of the rim with the only exception being the HLR. Possibly the browning platform as well. That (those?) platform being box magazine is also best suited for the bullets we are seeing on 350L ammo.

Well that's dumb, guess that's what happens when legislators that don't understand ethics try to legislate ethics.

You might have something there, the Browning action is slick, if you sized it properly and made it take AR mags they'd sell like hot cakes.

35 Rem headspaces off the shoulder since its rimless.

Since 350L lacks both a rim and a shoulder, it is a challenge, though not insurmountable, to chamber in a tubular fed lever action.

The “Why not” probably has more to do with pressure vs the rimless straight walled hurtles.

The 350 operates at even higher pressures than the 357 Maximum and those are “hens teeth”.

The reason being the 35 Remington already existed and does the same thing, at lower pressures.

There are lever actions that could handle the pressure but by then they would be competing against rounds like 300/7mm win Mag, 300 WSM, etc.
