Things still pretty much sold out?

Snooping around a couple of online vendors, it looks like inventory is still pretty skinny. The way the world is, I suppose that isn't surprising. I just sort of thought we might eventually be out of the supply mess.

Seems every time that there’s light at the end of the tunnel something happens to cut the wires. New strains of Covid, war, labor shortage, logistical nightmares, material shortages… hopefully things are winding down some and people will be back to work and supplies will trickle up from the bottom to the top. Gotta have lead to make bullets so somebody has to mine, refine, haul, and produce, with a few more middlemen tossed in for good measure. It will happen. We just have to be patient.

Normal is a word that the world will never know again. I don't think we will ever get back to the way things were in 2019 in terms of product availability, nuclear war tends to upset people and make them do drastic things and the ease of purchasing black powder guns appeals to a lot of people.

Just last month I finally got a Lyman Plains Pistol since they were back in stock after waiting over a year to get them. Percussion revolvers and the amount of firepower they hold will be much more appealing to others, thus I don't expect them to get back to being available for a very long time.

Cimarron had some Uberti Stainless steel .44 cal. Remington 1858 5 1/2 inch barrel revolver’s in stock as of yesterday. they told me as soon as they get things in it is normally gone the same day.

Watching the performance of our government I don't know where some of you get your optimism. Our Constitutional Republic is dying before our eyes. Things are never going to be the same again.

Moderators, this may be too political for your rules. If it is, delete it.

The price of fuel will put further kinks in the supply lines, not to mention fuel shortages that will be coming down the pike. I didn't know Plains Pistols were in short supply, no wonder no one will trade me for my 1862. Dang.

Sort of an odd thing to be scarce. They can't possibly be that popular?

I wonder if we will ever see Remington 10s back in production?

I thought the revolvers were way more popular than the single-shots, figured there had to be some laying around that the owners had lost interest in. Then again, I'd never part with my Plains Pistol, that thing rocks!

I hope we see the 10's show up. Maybe when everyone is done hoarding, they'll be a little bit easier to find.

Only about 4-450 miles from Italy to Ukraine at the nearest points. That is like the distance between Vancouver WA and Reno or Gkacier Nat Park. Not that far from a full scale war.

Going to try out Cavalry …thanks for the “heads up”
Now I do see that the headstamp on his ammo does not say Cavalry, but then it is a small company. I have a bunch with the same headstamp, and then what came today has a couple different headstamps, including Winchester, which suggests either Winchester sells cases or they are reloads. No matter, I am going to use them and buy more. It is a better price and seems to be good ammo.

Frankly, a professional reload job IMO is as good as factory new. I used to buy that Valvoline NextGen recycled motor oil. Just as good as new oil, which actually ain't new, but was pulled out of the ground and refined, just like the recycled oil is re-refined.

Ehh, there is stock out there you just have to look for it. Below is a link to a shop that is semi-local to me. I was there around New Years and they had an amazing inventory of BP firearms. Grafs has BP in stock today (linked also). Caps are hit and miss. Either acquire a tap a cap, or suck it up and pay $15-$20 bucks for a tin of 100. Heck I thought it was highway robbery at $10.00 per tin in late 2020. It seems projectiles are easier to find too. Powder and primers for centerfire, that's always the hangup. Caps for BP (powder too, but that's around if you look).

I ordered some .357 Magnum from them for my new snubby revolver. They just shipped it and said,
"After sending me the photo of your guns, I used a powder that performs best in short-barreled revolvers."
Nice!
Yeah unique, universal, hp38 good in short barrel, that's what I use.
Powders like AA9, H110 just give a spectacular fireball and cataclysmic muzzel blast in short barrel guns amd then disappoint on the chronograph.

I saw some Pyrodex recently. I could have taken some home---for $50 a bottle.
Our local shop has lots of pyrodex. Of course that stuff is not worth having if it was free. Show I was at last week a vendor had cases of APP for 32 dollars a bottle. That is the better buy if I was going to run anything but real black.

I'll take all the free pyrodex I can get. It works, especially for shotgun loads.

Me too. I have been using pyrodex for years. Blackpowder went away a long time ago around here except for one outfit that sells it by the case. I never knew enough blackpowder shooters to get together with and split a case and don't know a single one now so pyrodex it is for me.
