LCP MAX

I am on the buy a new LCP program!:)

From the first, to now the Max

I bet they come out with a Deluxe or Supreme soon!

Bought a new one yesterday. It went back to Ruger on the same day! LGS is taking care of it and they ordered me a new one which should be here Tuesday. Mag wouldn’t hold open an empty slide and the extractor was broken. Should have never left the factory.

I had one of the first ones that came out and it ran like a Kenyan in a foot race!

‘My first Max was too! I traded it off and just got an itch for something to pocket carry when in gym shorts. Oh well, sure the one coming Tuesday will to fine. I had a few 12rd mags and an Alabama Pocket Holster for it already. Figured I needed the pistol to go with them.

Started with the LCP, and progressed to the II for its more 'striker like' trigger.
Mixed reviews; it was a finger pincher, and ended up with a dead trigger; went back to Ruger.
Picked up a Max; actually felt good in the hand, still had the finger pinch in recoil.
Finally said the devil with it, and went back to a basic LCP a buddy sold me...it remains smaller, and I've more confidence in it.

It’s hard to beat the LCP. I wis I never sold the Custom I had. Best shooter.
I agree with you on the finger pinch. I shoot a Max with a Galloway Precision trigger installed and it was like night and day! Only reason I got another one was cause of that trigger.

My local gun shop has two LCPs (I think both used). One is the old model for $275 and the other is the newer one (forget the price but significantly higher). My son has one (380 ACP) he bought new for $400-something, about a year ago.

I would have been more interested if the LCP Max had a more traditional DAO hammer fired system with restrike capability. I don't consider a clean, crisp trigger essential in a pocket pistol with a short barrel.

Id rather have a clean, crisp trigger than a heavy pull in the little guys. A Smith k-frame, there’s enough to grab onto, a heavy (but very smooth) DA pull is highly controllable. It’s harder with the abrupt pull of a J frame (but can be learned well with training) and is harder still with a small auto. Especially because almost no double action auto is as smooth as a good revolver.

I wish they would have put the DAO trigger if the older LC9 in the LCP Max. Like a J FRAME trigger, it’s can be easily learned. That semi half cocked single action trigger with somewhat of a safety blade trigger and long reset is not the best.

I don’t expect a world class 1911 trigger in my LCP Max, although I would love one in my Mustang II! The GP trigger just gives the shooter more room for fingers and a shorter pull and reset. I think the safety blade on the GP is superior to the stock one on the Max.

LCPII are going for $335ish, and the LCP is going for $265ish at bigger outlets around here. Did see some smaller gun shops advertise either for cheaper.

I like my trigger on my LCP Plus & my DAO on my Taurus TCP .. and I can go on & on with all my handguns ..40ish ???
Im not a trigger queen .. I learn my triggers .. I don’t do competition shooting or do I hunt with handguns
Mine are for SD carry … Now .. Keltec P-11 is one I couldn’t tame .. I tried .. But I have a S&W 642 stock .. a S&W SD9VE stock ,, And I like that heavy trigger
But honestly the LCP plus in my world has a very functional trigger .. for its attended purpose
I get a true kick outta of in depth studies on the trigger on a $350 polymer 380 pocket pistol
Its a wonder I hadn’t hit the ignore button on 50+ instead of 3 or 4

Oh, I’m a trigger slut! I like my triggers like I like them. And at my age, I will shoot what I want. I applaud those that put up with finger bite and finger slap. You are the true heroes. LOL

It’s strange, I bought the LCP Max last year thinking how great it was going to be.

The whole reason I have carried a KT or LCP for many years in my basketball shorts is the super light weight, the size is a bonus. No danger of my shorts being pulled down to my ankles.

I didn’t stop to think how much heavier the Max would be loaded out. Turns out that is significantly heavier. Thus, I have yet to carry for MY needs previously mentioned.

Yep .. The LCP plus .. is great .. but I kept my TCP

I’ve had my Max since Nov and it’s my EDC around the house and on the occasional trip to town.

The only issue I had was with a box of Aguila jhp, jam city, loaded up 3 mags and couldn’t get through any without FTE.
Tried a couple mags of Remington Express jhp and it ran fine as did gold dots.
