What did you see at the gun shop today?

A used Kel-Tec P-32 with only a single magazine and with the box. They want $250. Seems like a reasonable deal. Not sure I need another 32 ACP.

I asked the owner if he ever gets NAA Guardians. He said he won't buy them because they are hard to shoot because of the heavy trigger.

Also bought a 32 caliber bore brush for all of $2.25. My gun cleaning kit only went from 22 to 9mm and up.

I took the 686 Plus revolver in to discuss having some light strikes. These were on some reloads I bought. He said the primers are in short supply. Some are harder metal and harder to fire. He looked at the trigger spring and tightened the screw, said it was too far out. That made the trigger a little stiffer and also makes the hammer strike harder. I notice the dummies were not getting dented before but now they are so am pretty sure I should not get any misfires next time at the range. Charged me all of $10 for that service. EDIT: Forgot to mention they still had the two 22 Beretta Tomcats (or are they Bobcats) and a 25 ACP Beretta Tomcat. I think those all were in the $450 and up range. Lot of other good stuff including a NAA mini revolver with two cylinders.

Ive only ever seen one real Wolverine in the flesh- but I grew up with a squirtgun modeled on one, so I was familiar. IIRC, it was about 7-8 years ago and they were asking $900.
I shoulda bought it....:confused:
 
I saw a SDS/Tisas 1911A1 exactly like the one I have in 9mm. I’m going back to check on the zero interest financing.
 
I had a Whitney Wolverine back in the 1980's, when they were still priced as shooters and not as collectors items.. It was appealing because of its appearance and for the really neat way it came apart for cleaing; it was very ingenious. The whole design was very creative; even the rear sight was nicely done. (Oh, and the magazine follower too!) Unfortunately, it simply was not as durable or accurate as a Ruger Standard Model, which was the nemesis of every other inexpensive 22 pistol from the 1950's through at least the 1980's.

What was not impressive about my Wolverine was the way the cartridge case rim blew out on almost every shot, covering my trigger finger with soot. I did not get injured, but I decided I did not need to own that one any more. I never got another because it seemed like I had "been there and done that" and I didn't feel the need to do it again.

The safety was wonky as well, in some way that I cannot accurately remember. The cocking piece would drop when it was applied, but I don't remember if it was from full cock or some kind of half-cock. At any rate, it did not inspire confidence either, although it never caused an accidental discharge for me.

So today, I visited my local gun shop and they had one of these puppies with the 8.38-inch barrel. It's a 460 S&W Magnum. They list for $1429. This used one they were asking $995. Nice deal. I should have bought it but I don't know if my wrists are strong enough. They had a box of hollow point ammo 20 rounds for $30. I held one round and wondered if it was for a Howitzer! This is one big monster of a revolver. I will probably kick myself for not buying it but it was not on my shopping list and with that caliber I don't think I want the lock. Really, I am looking for something a tad smaller, maybe a 44 or a 41, possibly another 357 but with a long barrel since I already have two snubs.

Wow only 30 bucks for 20rds of 460S&W????!!!! That stuff is like dang near if not more than double that at a gun show here in OKC...

Went to Cabela's last weekend and they had a bunch of junk Turkish clone rip off shotguns for wayyyyyy toooooo much money lol...

As I recall, the box of ammo was with the gun, so maybe they were doing a special on one box with the gun. Maybe the ammo came with it when they took the gun in.
 
I should add that the S&W 460 revolver didin't sit for long. It was gone and curiously a customer was telling about some guy at the range shooting a 460 revolver had his thumb up at the front of the cylinder and blew the tip of his thumb off. I wonder if it was the same gun. Guy apparently did not watch this video (the fun begins about 2 minutes in):
 
Decently priced guns, none. Reloading components of any kind, none. Three shops, three strikes. Situation normal.
 
A lot of hand & long guns, overflowing with loaded ammo, some reloading bullets, very little powder and no primers, Prices seemed high
 
Saw a Czech Vz24 Mauser $450. It was rather beat up and not numbers matching. If it had been maybe $350 I would have considered it for a cheap shooter
 
Today, a 45 caliber Cimarron revolver in nice condition with box, marked $700.

They also had two pallets of ammo with what appeared to be decent prices pack in boxes of 500 etc. or you could buy 50 or 20. $35 for 500 22 LR. I forgot the other prices. But no shortage here. Had about 6 different calibers including the ubiquitous 9mm.
 
Lots of new guns, but not much in the way of interesting used firearms. Plenty of powder, but $45ish per pound. The Hornady bullets weren't terrible 158gr XTP's for $26/100. Lots of options in .30 caliber, 130gr to 225gr hunting and target. Wasn't buying, but it was nice to see. Powder needs to come back down some for me to buy.

Pretty sure at one time there was a 45 Colt Government. Which was a shortened version of 45 colt. Same rim diameter. But that was 100 years ago maybe.
