Possibly looking for a Grendel bolt action. For those if you with 6.5 Grendel experience, would you choose the Howa or Ruger? Must have a threaded barrel.

I have the Howa 1500 mini action and love it.
I bought the heavy barreled action from Brownells and put it in a Boyds Prairie Hunter stock.
I also replaced the cheap plastic factory trigger guard/ mag release with an aluminum unit from DIP. She's not light but is a shooter.
Factory magazines are the only shortcoming.

Does anyone make a hinged floor plate for the Howa mini if so that’s how I would lean!

Also I have a cz 527 in 6.5 Grendel (I know it’s not an option but it is a bolt 6.5 Grendel) which I dearly love my Mother in Law wants to use it to deer hunt every year now

i shoot a ruger. the mag spring needs a few coils off it to feed. right side feeds any thing, left side bullet choosey.
.... i am using resized pmc 7.62 russian brass in it. accuracy seems decent. still playing with loads.
...there is a howa in the local gas station, sporting goods store. might have both. lol!

Another vote for Howa. I got a 7.62x39 barrel action and bedded it in a lightened Boyds stock. It makes a really nice compact package. I will probably replace the bottom metal at some point, but haven't done it yet.

The only thing I don't like about my Howa Oryx 6.5 GR is the proprietary magazine. Does anyone know if there are other options besides this super cheap feeling turd?

Proprietary? Isn’t it the MDT mag? I guess it’s using a spacer for the shorter Grendel round?

the Oryx chassis will take any AICS magazine. I use the MAGPUL, but also like the Accurate steel mags. I believe this will work & already has the spacer.

I will check it out. I sure hope other mags will fit it. The one supplied by Howa is a magazine only its mother could love.

I've a Howa in 6.5 Grendel and my only complaint is the cheap plastic mags. Did replace the trigger guard with one made of aluminum.
The bottom metal that uses CZ mags may be my next purchase as I've CZs in 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel.
