The RUGER OLD ARMY Club

Has it been shot in that pistol? My remark about a beauty ring comes from Ruger's habit of timing their revolvers to drop the bolt so early that it leaves a ring about halfway between the locking notches. Never understood why they did that.

Thanks.
Gotcha, the guy I it from couldn’t remember shooting the percussion cylinder more than once and a few successful javelina/bear hunts with the 45C conversion cylinder.

1988 production. Stainless sure helps with cleaning anxiety after a day at the range!
If you pack the insides with red grease after a thorough cleaning, then you only have to hose out the gun and run a few patches through the cylinders and barrel, but as stated above don't wait too long, stainless will pit, I had to change out the barrel on one of my Gunbroker finds after finding severe pitting in the bore and cylinder, luckily I found the parts for relatively cheap on Ebay. Funny thing, even with badly pitted bore, it shot as well as my other ROA, that was bought unfired?

I owned a blued Old Army Waaay back in the last century, I sold it and always wanted one in Stainless. Last week I stumbled on one in a LGS and the price was too hard to resist, so it followed me home :)

I dug out all of my old BP stuff and as soon as I can get some caps and powder I'll give it a go.

Back in the day, since I'm not fond of black powder I used Pyrodex P, and I'll likely start with that unless anyone has other options like Triple Seven I can look for if Pyrodex isn't available.

gnappi-nice score! I love those grips-I’ve got Ajax fake ivories and have bought two sets of wood rugers so far that don’t fit well.
I haven’t been able to find any BP, but from what I’ve read since getting mine I chose to go with T7. The ROA for me will not be a target gun, but may be used for javelina hunting and seems to be doing great with a 35gr (volume) charge, which is energy equivalent to 40.2 of BP, under .457 balls and a lubed wad.
Hits on with fully lowered rear sight at 70yds for me so I’m not gonna mess with it.
I’ll grab BP when I can find it, because it will be more cost effective for practice and jackrabbits.

Oh yeah, loved shooting at Jackrabbits with mine! You might give a 452 lead conical a try, you roll them between 2 crosscut files to make them fit the chambers. I've hit Jackrabbits out to 75 yards with bullets like that, it's a done deal, no flopping around just down. Enjoy it, its more fun than we ought to be allowed to have.

Prices for these on Gunbroker seem to be really going nuts.

Hmmm.... you're right. I picked up a SS 7.5" last week and I "thought" it was a good price at $500 (no box) out the door, reading your post I checked GB and was really surprised at the silly prices. It makes no sense... maybe there's fear of a gun ban coming? :)
