I need a better set of grips for my "New Model" Blackhawk. The original ones look nice but they don't fit my hand. Makes it a little uncomfortable shooting magnum loads. Any suggestions?

If they are too small for your hands the Pachmayers (spelling) may be an option. Larger and a bit of give to them. However, they are sticky which isn't always good under recoil.

If you are new to SA revolvers it may be a bit of technique to it also. Letting it roll up some in your hand may be a better option than fighting to keep it on target.

There are larger, more hand filling wood options out there but I can't recall a maker of them now.

Ok thanks. I've had this Blackhawk for over 40 years, just tired of dealing with the wimpy grips.

Thanks. Those are nice looking and actually give a place for the little finger to go!!! :D
Yes pinky real-estate. lol That was my biggest beef with the gun, my hand felt cramped.
You'll love them. They fit perfect. The owner switched up to a CNC machine when he started to get swamped.
The price is still the same as I bought those at least 2 years ago.
It's just like a new gun.

These are from a company in Wilson, North Carolina, N.C. Ordnance.

They have some good grips and reasonable prices. I'm of the old school - pinky under the butt, let it roll with the recoil, and use the web of my thumb as a "stop."

I'm old but I must not be old school, lol. I like all my fingers on the grip, just seems more stable to me. I have just average size hands but have always preferred fat grips on handguns.

I really like the Dragoon grip frame on the RSBH for that reason. I have a square palm and average size hand - however, I do have to wear the XL size blue nitrile gloves because of the width of my palm, so maybe that makes the difference? Keeping the pinky under the butt gives better control. You get pitch with the thumb & pinky, yaw with the ring/middle fingers and roll with the palm/wrist. All the trigger finger has to do is control the trigger. Give it a try. Or not. Up to you.

I've had the Blackhawk since 1975 and have put thousands of rounds downrange with it. Used to do well with it in silhouette shoots back in the day and have always shot accurately with it. I've never liked the grip in all that time but never got around to "pulling the trigger" on upgrading the grips. I figure it's time to give it a shot. :)

I am with Plains finger. I love my Texas Grips extended grips on my Blackhawk. Another way to go is used Herret's RR grips from ebay. The Texas grips are standard at the top and may let the trigger guard hit your finger. The Herret's fill the area under the trigger guard to eliminate that. The Herret's are pretty fat and probably require larger hands than the standard grips. I have a couple of extra sets of the Herrets and could let someone that was interested in them try them. They were my go to grip until I got the set of Texas Grips.

Apparently, Colt didn't think so on their 1st Generation SAA.
Must be why I ain't got one. hehe

Hogue's are nice; that's what I have on my Ruger Redhawk. Although my Blackhawk wound up with a set of rubber grips from Pachmayr and I like those as well. I almost went for some fancy wood but decided on rubber because this gun gets used and I'd wind up with scratches and marks on the beautiful wood and that is something I want to avoid. Rubber grips also seem to feel better to my hands, anyway. IMG_0238.JPG ..
