Six or less. If I want more continuity of fire, I am more likely to add a second “six-or-less” gun, than to opt for one of my former duty autos, such as a 1911 or Glock G17.

I am carrying my Dagger (Glock 19 clone) most of the time. So 15+1. I get the feeling it is going to be a very hot summer this year so the PPS will get more holster time I am sure. (6+1)

3" or 4" NAA .22 WMR revolver=5 rounds.

X2=10 rounds. Under one pound total weight. Redundancy + strong side/weak side access included at no extra charge. (Well, ya gotta buy a second holster.)

Bonus points for adding a brace to suspender holsters. 20 rounds, 4x redundancy, 3" or 4" sight picture. (6" if you can score a Hogleg.) Under two pounds total weight. Priceless.

I put 11+ for my Glock 43X. Just got some of the 15 round mags to try out.

I also carry a snubby 5 shot J frame when i need/want to carry in the pocket. I carry that quite a bit, but I'd say the Glock is carried more often.

5 shot J frame with .38 special wadcutters
Ditto. In reality, that's all 99% of self defense situations will require ( with 3 rounds left over). Anyone needing more is likely either on the job, on the offensive or rescuing maidens from tower ogres. ;)

Well - I won't go quite that far. I will just say that the most civilians should be well-served for the "typical" SD encounter. With the understanding that your particular encounter may very well not be "typical".

No.

On average it takes two hits to incapacitate and a 100% hit ratio is not average.
Ponder two attackers, is that realistic (rhetorical).

Some people are content with the minimum, "better than nothing", I'm not one of them.
There are people who were not quickly incapacitated by 5 or more hits:

4 EDCs. 3 single stack 9 MM. 7-8 round. Prolly the Ruger LC9S Pro is the most carried. And a lonely 5 round 2 inch snub which has duty in my glove box.

Just my single shot 22 short. Ballistics like a pebble through an open window.

Smith 10 rd. Shield Plus, Bersa Thunder 8 rd, Ruger LCPll 7 rounds. Limited to 10 round mags in my state.

I just plain shoot better with a revolver, and all my instincts/muscle memory/whatever have been built with revolvers. I'd prefer more capacity, but in looking at the statistics have decided that it's pretty unlikely to ever be an issue. Other folks, of course, will make up their own minds, just as it should be.

I agree. Capacity is a lesser concern for me than comfort and how well I shoot the gun.

I carry a Canik SC Elite and sometimes a Taurus snubnose with Hollow point 38 spl. Only Keep 7 rounds in the Canik even though it holds more.

Most often carried for me is a Kahr K9 with 8+1 and a spare magazine with 8 more. When things get tumultuous in the news cycle I often move my back-up (FEG 7-shot .380ACP) to my weak side pocket and leave the full size M&P 40 Full Size in the console of the SUV (removed nightly).

So typically 8+1+8 plus 7+1 but sometimes add 15+1+15 to that. Mark that last down as rare though.

That has a 12 round flush mag?
How did you arrive at the arbitrary number 7 ?
