Where there wasn’t a “next gun” on your list? I feel like I might be there. I know several members here are shooters more than collectors. I fall somewhere in the middle between shooter and accumulator. I don’t want guns that I won’t shoot, but there’s always been a “next gun” for me. I’ve got money from selling a few guns lately and the rule between my wife and I has always been that gun money remains gun money, as in, it doesn’t get used to pay the bills and such unless there is a dire emergency. I think I’ve reached a point though where I just want to shoot what I have. I’ve picked up several new rifles in the last year and a half and haven’t really had time or ammo to really get used to any of them yet. Maybe something is wrong with me. I should probably schedule a doctor’s appointment.

That's me. Not to sound morose or be a downer, but being realistic, I have a couple decades left on the planet if all goes well and I follow the footsteps of my forebears, so with my current stock of arms and ammo, I have no need to purchase anything else, I need to ride what I got :)

No. As a matter of fact, my list keeps getting longer faster than I can trim it back by getting the top gun on the list. Keeping a list is just an exercise in frustration, IMO, because I don't see ever "reaching that point".

You think you are done, but you won't get off that easy.
Now you will start buying backup/2nd-string/3rd-string guns.

Or your hobby might take you in a different direction.
You might get into single actions and buy 8-10 of those, for example.
Or get into another caliber and buy 3-4 of those.

You can always buy ammo/accessories.
And you will...

Like you, I have reached the point where I would rather focus on shooting what I have, than trying to find a niche to fill. I don't have much, have whittled down over the last few years, but all of my needs are covered, and I want to get better with them, rather than chasing something new.

Yes, have been there for a couple of years and am slowly dissolving my collection. There is, however, one gun still on my wish list, and that is a bona-fide Colt SAA in .45 LC. The way prices are, though, I may have to liquidate the rest of my guns to be able to put a down payment on one, lol.

I didn’t think I’d be here so soon, but nothing really has my interest right now.
I haven’t bought a firearm in…a while. I put an upper together last month, but that doesn’t really count. It’s nice but I haven’t shot it yet. Very light.
I tried to get excited about a lever rifle, but I didn’t.
Mil-surp doesn’t interest me. I’m not a big hunter either.
I have pistols from rimfire to P-32 to a Deagle.
And rifles past that. Maybe too many?
Shotguns as well.

I have a bench to make and a press to install. And primers to use, when I get breathing time…

The lack of free time gives an uneasiness to the little bit I take for myself.
I feel guilty for using components I may not be able to replace now that I’m poor again.

‘Tis a conundrum.

What I want is a range that is more than a rotten picnic table at a dump, or the woods that are too thick to see through.

And time to use it.
Then, maybe, I might think of something nice to use there.;)

Maybe we could just add a day to the week for those of us who need it…

Range day!:D

I'm almost there. My favorite is the .25-20 WCF I made from scratch. That gun will do anything I want if I put the bullet in the right place. I should sell off a couple of others that I almost never shoot, and I still have an inkling to build a break action single in the same chambering.

Yup- At 46, getting pretty close to done. Nothing "new" really trips my trigger, and I am slowly filling the holes in my want list. Maybe 10-15 items outstanding, none of which are "new" products, just used vintage pieces or replicas there of...

Zero interest in the latest polystriker or trendy rifle cartridge du jour.

Yeah, I’m pretty much there. Last one was just a backup/dry fire spare for my CCW and that was a trade. I’ve got enough “gun money” for most things sitting around right now but it’s kinda just gonna sit for a while.

Probably I’ll buy a Wilson 1911 in a year or two to celebrate the kids being in school and me working again full time, but that’s about it.

I am not against getting a new gun, but there isn't anything that I necessary want. I am a shooter and not a collector, but I seem to have a collection I never intended to have.

With that said, I do enjoy getting a chance to shoot other people's guns and hearing about why this feature/caliber/model really turns their crank. Sometimes, I learn that I do need something (usually not an entire gun). Sometimes, I come away very happy with the decisions I have made.

Yessir, especially regarding the "trendy cartridge". Honestly, with ammo manufacturers running at near-capacity, I don't quite understand how they can support all the new calibers/cartridges that seem to be coming down the pike literally every month. o_O

I’m definitely slowing down. I just sold 5 and bought one in the last month. I cleaned up some redundancy and am finally able to keep all my long guns in a 12 gun RSC. I am loathe to have a net gain in firearms unless it is just something special.

I don’t really have any grail guns and never really have. I will probably continue to sell one buy one until I’m in the ground.

I also don’t get caught up in “the latest things” so I’m never waiting to pounce on something new.

I do enjoy a good impulse buy on something neat. I know I probably won’t keep it but I like shooting lots of different guns and unloading (hehe) them when they have run their course with me.

I’m 38 and at last count I was sitting between 40 and 50 firearms. Several ARs, Ruger No. 1s and bolt guns. Everything from 22LR to 300 Win Mag. About the only thing I could justify buying right now is a shotgun for duck hunting which I got into last year. Bought a Remington 870, but honestly, it’s been a disappointment. Several failures to eject. Bought a Benelli Montefeltro 20 gauge last year for quail and dove and been thinking about adding a SBEIII before duck season, but I’m not a shotgun guy and dropping that kind of coin on a shotgun is a tough pill to swallow.

I guess my point in making the original post is that I’m at a place for the first time in my life that I’ve got cash in my pocket and there’s nothing in the gun world that is blowing my skirt up. Kind of an odd feeling for me. Never thought I would ever reach this place.

Maybe. My "collection" - I am very much a shooter rather than a collector - has been cut dramatically over the past few years, down to a core of a dozen or so guns that I will never part with. There still are guns which I would like to own, but am unlikely to put any real effort into acquiring.

As an example, I passed over a Smith 27-2 just a few weeks ago. I've had one in the back of my mind for the last decade or so, and they are awfully hard to come by in California, so when I saw exactly the gun I wanted, at a fair price, I was surprised to not really care much. I gave it a thorough going-over, thought about it hard, and then said to myself "I already have a good .357 and don't really need another".

Of course, I was at the shop to pick up a gun I'd just bought, so...
