One-Shot Incapacitation by Handgun Compared

There’s no place I’d rather defend myself with a 9mm handgun than my 12 ga or my AR either. You seem to think that you are the only one who doesn’t compromise power for concealability. You are fooling yourself.

A 12 ga or AR is not easily concealable, a Glock 19 or Sig 365 is, when you can dress as you choose.
Lets say one unfortunately has to tuck their shirt; they might be able to wear a tuckable holster, I never have.
If I was in the unfortunate situation of tucked shirt required, PM9 in pocket with small hand sanitizer to break outline; all other times, happily untuck shirt and carry a decent gun.
There is no confusion or "fooling myself" in that I could carry a 9mm minimum; pleated dress pants and tucked shirt (God help me) Sig 365 in Smartcarry. ;)

Its pretty easy to carry most medium to full sized handguns, and pretty much any way you dress, if you're of a mind to do it and actually try and figure it out.

This is more about "want" though than it is about "cant". "Want" is the proper mentality, "cant" is simply a self-fulfilling prophecy. ;)

But of course, if you dont want to do it, you are free not to. No one is saying you have to, and by all means do as you want, just keep the "negative waves" to yourself Moriarity. :)

Just about any 32 will give you an entry and an exit wound. Yeah, larger caliber and hollowpoints will get you a bigger hole but if you get a through and through hole in the target. What more can you ask.

I've been studying the "one shot stop" stuff for close to 50 years. The most important factor is shot placement.

Proof? Look at when Hinckley tried to assassinate Reagan. Everyone who was hit by Hinckley's 22 went down except Reagan.

I spent over 30 years as a LE firearms instructor. I used to tell everyone if you can put a 22 in the eye socket 100% of the time carry a 22.

I often carry a 32 auto or revolver and don't feel undergunned for 99.99% of what I may encounter.

I've carried pocket hand sanitizer for years; its useful beyond breaking outline, like after touching door knobs, gas pumps, shaking hands.:barf:
Me too! My sanatizer of choice is a small spray bottle filled with 70% rubbing alcohol... it sanitizes thoroughly, and doesn't leave any greasy residue (no unnessecary fragrance or moisturizer addatives). That little spray bottle has been part of my EDC long before all this Covid fear... though I am a bit OCD with germs.

380, 38, or 357 in the left pocket for protection. Small bottle of germ-x in the right.... For same thing :p

Close. Kahr PM9 in my weak hand (left) front pocket as a 2nd option to the Glock that is AIWB.

I'm not counting on a one shot stop, but for 9mm I think my bullet selection is about as good as it gets.
Glock 34 is loaded with Ranger T 127 +P+ I"ve not chronoed the 34 but did a 19 and got 1,235 fps / 430# so the advertised 1,250 fps from the 34 is likely:
https://winchesterle.com/-/media/Pr...gun-Bullet-Barrier-Testing-Protocol_2016.ashx

The PM9 is loaded with CorBon 115+P @ 1,264 fps / 408# from my PM9 (and has less felt recoil than a LCP 380 - not kidding)
408# from the PM9 is significantly more than a 380, most 38 specials and on par with 357 from a snub
Most people would not think full power Remington 357 Mag 125 JHP lacking in incapacitation potential, from a 2'' barrel 1,209 fps / 406# KE

The PM9 offers power on par with a snub 357 Mag and/but has 7 round capacity.

Regardless of what a chart or data from limited number of shootings says, I'll take a 9mm over a 32 acp - everywhere.

Squeeze the 70 % alcohol bottle into their eyes, 100% one squeeze stop!
The thread is about one shot incapacitation.
I sometimes wonder about non lethal defense like your alcohol/sanitizer or pepper spray.
How about a taser???? Where legal.

Interesting how the much touted 9mm is proven by this chart to be significantly less effective than a .32 ACP and even less effective than the .22LR.

I think this proves without a shadow of a doubt that we need to get the wimpy 9 out of police and military holsters and replace them with .32s immediately.

After all, numbers don’t lie.

It's an excellent option and force multiplier. In my edc I carry a small key chain saber defense spray. I also have a Kershaw folder, a small pen light, and my firearm.

If self defense can be safely handled against man or beast with the spray, I'll be doing that.
