  • Now that gun control has recently passed the House, I need to give you an urgent update coming out of the Senate.

RINO Republicans are on the brink of surrendering our Second Amendment rights.
Sources reveal that Senator John Cornyn – the chief GOP gun control negotiator – thinks a deal can reach the 60-vote threshold in the Senate.

Cornyn believes Republicans can shred the Second Amendment without facing backlash from voters in November.

I need YOUR help showing him that he’s dead wrong. Gun owners will stay home on Election Day if the Senate passes a bipartisan “compromise” on our God-given rights.

Please add your name to our pre-written letter to STOP the Senate from passing a bipartisan compromise on gun control.

GOA has asked you to alert your Senators several times over the past week, but I want you to see why it’s so critical.

This is a battle that we can still win. And your activism is helping to keep many Republicans from compromising!

The other day, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a Democrat from Texas, was asked by MSNBC why Republicans usually end up failing to get enough votes on gun control compromises.

She attributed a lack of gun control compromises to “Gun Owners of America” because GOA has instilled a “fear of retaliation” (her own words) in Senators who even consider shredding the Second Amendment.

In fact, she cited Republican congressman Chris Jacobs who just dropped his re-election bid following the immense backlash he received for calling for an “assault weapons” ban.

Democrat Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts also SLAMMED GOA on the House floor, citing our members’ work to pressure legislators to vote against gun control.
Your letters are getting recognized on the House floor. You help remind politicians that they’re not in Washington to serve themselves, but to serve We The People.
Thanks to you, hope is not all lost.

While GOA continues to pressure Senators to protect our God-given rights, there are also some real pro-gun Senators like Steve Daines who are pushing back against Cornyn’s proposal.

But with a whole bunch of RINOs in the Senate – like Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey, and Lindsey Graham – it’s not difficult to see how the Senate could get just 10 Republicans to vote for a gun control compromise.
That’s why we cannot take a day off from alerting the Senate.

We need to keep instilling that “fear of retaliation” in every single Senator to once again stop a gun control compromise in the Senate.

This is a battle that we can still win. But it will take ‘all hands on deck.’ Everyone needs to take action to contact their Senators right away!

So please, add your name to our pre-written letter to STOP the Senate from passing a bipartisan compromise on gun control.

In Liberty,
Erich Pratt
Senior Vice President
Gun Owners of America

As said before several times, it is great that the pro 2A groups have the ability to make it easy to send mass emails to elected officials, but if you copy their letter, make it a bit more personal (no rants), and then send it yourself from your personal email (or better yet, print it and hand sign it, and mail it) to them the politicians pay more attention.

It is worth a stamp and a bit of paper to get the extra notice.

By all means write, but realize that at this point it's all smoke and mirrors. Nothing substantial will come out of the Senate negotiations. They may do some nibbling around the edges so that they can say they did something. It won't affect any of us. Meaningful gun control is, once again, DOA.

Agreed.

The people have spoken, and no gun control will pass both the House and the Senate. DOA like all their other attempts.

I agree up to a point. That being, we must reinforce by letter, calls, and even meetings with our Senators our position that we will not accept legislation that treats law-abiding voters as convicted criminals stripped of their rights. We need to continue to tell them this in numbers large enough they hear it often enough that it stiffens their resolve to defend the 2A.

They want too much info in that link.
AND, considering I have to the double traitors of "Tricky Dicky" Durbin and Tammy Duckworth(less), we know that they will do whatever they want, regardless of the law or the Constitution. :cuss: :barf:

This is what we're going to see in the Senate -
A nine-point bipartisan plan with 10 Republican Senators supporting sending federal money to support states that set up red flag laws to keep guns out of the hands of people deemed dangerous to the community, billions of dollars for children and family mental health services, fund school-based mental health services, fund new security measures at schools, and expand criminal background check requirements for gun buyers younger than 21 that would access juvenile records.

Cornyn believes Republicans can shred the Second Amendment without facing backlash from voters in November.

I believe they can too. Lots easier to do when your opposition is disliked even by the people who put them into power in the first place.

Will be as stupid as W Bush and (R) House and Senate riding the anti Clinton/AWB wave and doing absolutely nothing but here we are and they haven’t even regained power to loose it again yet…

That is one thing I will give the Democrats, they get what they can, while they can vs. do absolutely nothing.

At that point, it’s water vs granite, just a matter of time and water wins.

More details on the plan of the 20 -

June 12 (Reuters) - A bipartisan group of U.S. senators said on Sunday they had reached an agreement on a framework for gun safety legislation, potentially the first significant new U.S. gun law in decades, following a string of recent high-profile mass shootings. read more

Below are some highlights of what is and what is not covered by the agreement, according to a statement from the group of lawmakers that includes 10 Republicans, enough to overcome the Senate's "filibuster" rule:

IN: STATE CRISIS INTERVENTION SUPPORT

The proposal would provide resources to states and Native American tribes to create and administer "red flag" measures intended to ensure weapons are kept out of the hands of people whom a court has determined to be a significant danger to themselves or others. These measures would be consistent with state and federal due process and constitutional protections.

OUT: ASSAULT-WEAPONS BAN

During an impassioned June 2 speech, Democratic President Joe Biden urged Congress to re-impose the federal ban on assault weapons that expired in 2004, which prohibited the manufacture, transfer and possession of semi-automatic assault weapons and the transfer and possession of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices. That measure faces staunch opposition from Republicans in Congress and is not in the framework agreement released on Sunday.

IN: ENHANCED REVIEW PROCESS FOR BUYERS UNDER 21

The framework calls for an investigative period to review the juvenile criminal and mental health records for gun buyers under 21 years of age. This would include checks with state databases and local law enforcement.

OUT: HIGHER AGE REQUIREMENT TO BUY SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLES

The proposal does not include a provision to raise the age for buying a semiautomatic rifle to 21 nationwide. Currently the minimum age to buy is 18. Federal law already prohibits anyone younger than 21 legally buying a handgun.

IN: PENALTIES FOR "STRAW PURCHASES"

If passed, the new law would crack down on criminals who illegally straw purchase and traffic guns. A straw purchase occurs when a person buys a weapon for someone who is not legally allowed to buy one.

OUT: FEDERAL BACKGROUND CHECK EXPANSION

The framework does not include proposals to expand federal background checks to buy a weapon from three to 10 days. It also does not close a loophole in federal law that allows many sales over the internet and at gun shows to go unchecked.

IN: MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, TELEHEALTH INVESTMENTS

The proposal would expand community behavioral health center models and makes investments to increase mental health and suicide prevention program access. It also would help fund crisis and trauma intervention and recovery services and makes investments in programs that increase access to mental and behavioral health services for youth and families in crisis via telehealth.

OUT: REPEAL OF LIABILITY SHIELD

The proposed framework makes no mention of amending or repealing a federal liability shield that protects gun manufacturers from being sued for violence carried out by people carrying, and shooting, their guns.

IN: CLARIFICATION ON DEFINITION OF LICENSED DEALER

The framework would also clarify the definition of a federally licensed firearms dealer and crack down on criminals who illegally evade licensing requirements.

IN: PROTECTIONS FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS

Those who are convicted of domestic violence crimes and face domestic violence restraining orders would be subject to criminal background checks for gun purchases under the proposal.

IN: SCHOOL-BASED MENTAL HEALTH AND SUPPORT SERVICES FUNDING

The proposed framework calls for funding to expand mental health and supportive services in schools, including early identification and intervention programs.

IN: SCHOOL SAFETY RESOURCE FUNDING

Under the proposal, federal funds would go to programs that help primary and secondary schools create safety measures, support school violence prevention efforts and provide training to school personnel and students.

Remember that this proposal from the 20 is not a bill. Is it our best bet to stop the Antis by getting "bipartisan" legislation before the Senate before Recess that will basically block the other bills filled with harsher actions? Can we get the "Red Flag" element out of it and still have enough fluff that doesn't do stuff so it poisons the well for greater restrictions ? Write the 10 Republicans and emphasize that Red Flag raises red flags for potential abuse and constitutional protections for citizens against harassing reporting under these laws can not be tolerated.

The Republican signatories include:

  • John Cornyn of Texas
  • Roy Blunt of Missouri
  • Richard Burr of North Carolina
  • Bill Cassidy of Louisiana
  • Susan Collins of Maine
  • Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
  • Rob Portman of Ohio
  • Mitt Romney of Utah
  • Thom Tillis of North Carolina
  • Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.

The part of the statement about the red flag laws did specifically include language about protecting due process. This makes the letter easier to write because you can start by praising them for that statement.

....OUT seems to be exterior security hardening of the actual school properties & buildings?

Not heard after the proposals; ''we can effectively remove any & all interior security procedures due to, the overall enhancements of our perimeter security.'' Or, ''teachers & others need not be armed against a threat which cannot reach the classroom, gym, study hall.''

Imagine, a system so good that teachers & students can have cookies & milk watching thru the window, the idiot attempting the perimeter. Overheard...''when these guys gonna learn? Look! The officers are cuffing him! OOOuch that's gonna leave a mark!'' ''OK kids, back to class!''

Finally got some friends to realize this with their home security systems, why are your cameras INSIDE the house going off? THE PROBLEM HAS ALREADY HAPPENED...TOO LATE!

THIS should be the goal, IMHO; all the recent school shootings in the end happening solely because the perp successfully, yes sometimes even easily, breached an unsecured perimeter...

What many Republicans have failed to realize by now is that appeasement will not stop left wing socialists. All the appeasement that has been awarded to them so far has done nothing but give them more strength to later return with more & greater demands.

History clearly demonstrates that a socialist movement does not stop until it has total control of everything so any compromise we award them is not only useless but harmful. The only defense we have, other than going to all out war with them is to vote them all out of office one by one. This will take years to accomplish and during that time they will continue to gain strength by taking advantage of our tolerance and weakness. We must give them absolutely nothing while we root them out.

Last night I watched Republican Senator Lindsey Graham trying to appease Bernie Sanders during a discussion. Bernie Sanders did what all good communists do; he took Lindsey Graham's good will as a sign of weakness and he aggressively used it against him to make Graham look like a fool. I was disgusted with the entire spectacle and ashamed that my representative is afraid to confront a self declared communist that has been trying to turn our country into another Soviet Union his entire life.

If it is a proven fact that gun control does not work there is no reason other than appeasement for Republicans to compromise and agree to more gun control laws.

Whoa. You are using the magic word "socialist." Others like to use the magic word "communist." The gun control movement has nothing to do with socialism or communism. It's a product of plutocratic elitists, such as Michael Bloomberg. Calling the likes of Michael Bloomberg "communists" is laughable.

This is the same mistake the NRA has been making. Politicizing the gun issue in a way that alienates those who are not right-wingers. We have to broaden the pro-gun support beyond the right-wing base.
