CMMG Dissent

Seems like a good development in an otherwise moribund design. Interesting that there may be gas operated and delayed blowback flavors.

I’m trying to envision the potential opportunities as a rifle. Folding stock comes to mind and maybe some more stock options.

Bolt, carrier, and recoil spring/guide rod assemblies look a lot like a Sig MPX. Will be nice to have some more gas-operated PDW-size guns, although man, I wish there was an inexpensive caliber optimized for those barrel lengths.

Interesting that they are doing this with the proposed rule change going into effect in a few months, IIRC. Looks interesting indeed.

Have they actually done anything since comments ended? I certainly have not seen any answers so far.
why are you assuming anything will change???

That's a rather old idea, Daewoo did it long time ago, and I've wondered why more mfg haven't done it since.

I once had a K1A1 Daewoo, collapsible stock, side charger, gas operated .223 carbine. It used a piston to operate the bolt, with two recoil springs side-by-side above the BCG. Super nice rifle, I wish I still had it. This isn't mine, but mine was identical to it: It used AR magazines and fire control group.

If you don't make a provision for a stock at all, then the brace/stock antics have no effect.
Well, the description of the thing says it has a Picatinny rail on the back for brace attachment, which I read before I posted that. Perhaps the day the Rule comes out they will switch to offering it with a sold rear with only an attachment for a single point sling. I actually used my Scorpion with a single point sling for a short time, wasn't TOO inaccurate, certainly wasn't great.

Sounds interesting in 5.7. A bit too short for 5.56.

As for the price, have you fueled your car recently, or shopped for food? Get real, $2k today is $1k in 2019.

To my knowledge, there has been no update from ATF since the comment period ended. Did we miss something?
