300 PRC or 30 Nosler

Update:

At the last minute the custom stock maker, with whom I’ve had multiple emails and phone calls to coordinate this project, decided he didn’t do stock work for Mausers. Disappointing.

Moving on, I’m giving consideration to getting a 95% stock and finishing it myself

I found a stock I like but here’s the problem. Being a single shot it doesn’t have standard bottom metal, which this stock is inletted for

One idea would be to source a blind magazine bottom metal that would fill the hole and trim the mag well to clear the action.

Or I could keep searching for custom stock maker as was the original plan

Bummer about the stock maker, which ever direction you go I wish you all the luck in it. Btw that barreled action looks FANTASTIC!!!!! If it were me and I’d put all this time money and effort into it I’d try to find someone to take it on THATS just me though ……

And what a stock! Very nice!
Maybe an Ebony or Purpleheart plug could add some panache. Glue fills a lot…;)
Or even some bedding for filler. Some polishing and black stain after it sets and it might look just like metal.
I’ll second @troy fairweather ‘s suggestion of Richards. That is a nice stock, it could really set off the right Mauser, without a fixer.

A shame about the stocker. But if he doesn’t want to do it, you definitely don’t want him to.

Oh really!

His description makes it sound like he’s doing it himself

That’s some good info
The one you pictured is the same on I have on my 7x57ai 09 Argentine, tho it was cut with the Optional higher comb can't remember the grade Carlo but the stock was under a $100 it had some sap wood and it was taken off when I finished it. I have to call and see what they got, my 9.3will be a German/ American style so I may go with this one again. If you know a ffl you can get 20%, and they have blems often that can still be nice like mine or If its just for a old sporter.

Get some wood puffy fill her up, sand her down and spray paint the whole mess a nice flat blue.

;)

that is a fairly lightweight contoured barrel for the power of the round and the heavy bullets you will be shooting. hold on to it lol

I'm going to echo getting in touch with Richard's Microfit....... If I'm going to be forced to actually finish out a stock I'm not paying a premium for it......
The Richards stocks I've seen and worked with have all been good quality wood and fairly well inleted. finishing on the one I did for my 250 AI took me about 5 hours or so if I remember correctly.... Not including applying finish

I have this Fajen stock I picked up for another Mauser project but I don’t think it’s fancy enough for this build.

I’m glad to hear that @LoonWulf and @troy fairweather have had good luck with Richards Microfit stocks. I keep reading mixed reviews on them. I’m willing to give it a try. A phone call won’t cost anything
I think most bad reviews are from people not realizing what there getting into. With a few proper tools you can finish them pretty quick. If there's a flaw in the wood that was hidden there pretty good about replacing it.

My dad's one friend dose some gunsmithing on the side and has used sevral dozens with no complaints.

Funny I'm working on the same fajen stock now for a mauser, but this one has the square forend.
