Some beautiful scenery you've got there!

I really think it's cool seeing the water flowing between those boulders as time is meaningless to them. They have been there doing that for who knows how many millennia and will continue to do so until erosion finally overcomes their place among the other rocks.

Oh, and I like your firearm choice of a brace of .357s too!

Glad you could find a make-shift shelter before the storm rolled in!

I can remember any number of times working outdoors when suddenly the sky turned pitch black and thinking "Man that don't look good" and then sprinting back to my truck just before the deluge began!

Nice gun and knife combo!
 
Thanks to you all for the posts. I love the pictures and stories. I think about the petty arguments on the sight, like which is the best 30 cal 308 or 30-06 when we all know it's the 300 mag, but which mag?????:evil:

We all got together to enjoy the kind-of-outdoors!
Before we took off to meet family, the kids and I went for a cruise on some forest roads. Little bear actually wanted his turned up faster. After that, I couldn’t catch him!:D

I love these little bikes.

In true form, I may have set my bike down a little hard going around a wash. I had a nice bruise the length of a pistol slide, but the pistol was otherwise unharmed.:thumbup:
If I crash, they learn not to? Maybe? I hope so…


My mom loves this camping resort place, and they open a week early for friends so it’s been quiet, but it is literally on an exit ramp to a highway. And without all the other campers, it’s not like a party all day, like before. I have to admit, I liked Mimosa Monday, Tequila Tuesday, Cabo Wabo Wednesday and the best day, Fruit cocktail punch Friday! Thursday was for the Honeywagon and kids cookout. It’s totally a fifties, we all get hammered and listen to music from the Buick campground. But this time is kinda dull.:(

Yup! A P-32. I’ll have to wait till I get home for a once over. Don’t want to make anyone nervous.
With the amount of debris I shake from this thing on the daily, and it works every time, know it’s fine.
I may need a few days to recoup after all my relaxing though…;)
 
This morning I loaded up some .22s and rode out to the range for some therapy. On the way back, I stopped at a little reservoir for brunch. While I was sitting there, I noticed this jumping spider walk by.

It was big'n'! I wasn't expecting a photo opportunity but I pulled out my Black Widow for scale.

You can sort of see water in the background. It was like glass. Probably would have been a great morning for bluegills a couple hours earlier.
 
I went out to the desert this AM to shoot some rimfire online match targets and also a couple of test loads for my 243. But the wind was blowing 20mph so I didn't even uncase the rifles. I always bring a handgun or two and today was a Glock G19X loaded with some 124gr FMJ handloads. On the way back to town I crossed paths with 3 badgers, which are legal to hunt in Idaho year round, so I dumped a mag full at them. I managed to get 2 of the 3. Worst part is that I didn't bother to put on my hearing protection so now my left ear is screaming louder then normal.

I would add that I was never meant to be a farmer as I just could never get use to finally hitting the hay at 4 A.M. then getting up at 7 A.M. to do it all over again!

It sounds worse than it is...just remember all that work was within sight of my house! Furthermore.....it pounded rain the next afternoon and I will be replanting the field that I planted until 4am! I guess I should have been in bed?!
 
So Central Washington is often overlooked as most of the more popular scenic locations in the state are in or near the Cascades, the Olympics, the Puget Sound, the coast, or the San Juan Islands.

We long ago started a group of THR members who met annually on or around the Father's Day weekend on a member's property on Manastash Ridge between Ellensburg and Cle Elum. It's not mountains, as I have to remind my flatlander family and friends (although in many states, they call hills like these mountains); but the elevation gets up to around 4200 feet. Great hiking, hunting, fishing and some awesome scenery. Lots of cliff, canyons, valleys, even some caves. And some cool creeks. Yes, we may have thrown some pallets into the fire pit as the evening progressed. Shown are only a few of the firearms I brought up.

What's the 1911 with the mag well pictured with the revolvers? I'm still thinking about a 1911 outdoorsman special.
I have family in Tacoma area. Several of them worked for Boeing.
 
Mrs and I just completed a whirlwind trip to Florida's east coast, Tybee Island, savanna, Ashville, GSMNP and back home. We had a wedding to attend.

Amelia Island is known for its abundance of prehistoric shark teeth that can be found on the beaches. I found three small ones. The one in the picture is massive and was found by our host.
Some boys were fishing on the beach and caught a stingray.

I had my Hellcat 9mm with several mags. I carried it at all times on the road, but left it in my luggage when we were on-island.
We were in good areas (sorry @CDW4ME ) and I missed the convenience and discretion of my old boring lcp. I think I have adopted lazy carry habit.

Looks like a great trip! I like the LCP for carry. @.308 Norma says 380acp is good for bears. Just shoot your hiking partner in the leg and run. I think Mrs Farmer might shoot you first :rofl:

When I can't make it to one of the hiking trails in my area I'll take a walk down the road by my house. It's about a half mile walk to one of the lakes in our area. Our area is a combination of farms, heavy woods and lakes. There's not much of a threat during this walk other than flies which annoy me from time to time, and me swatting at them makes it look like I'm landing planes. I carry my P365XL with 124 grain +P HST's.

Been way too long since I posted to this thread. I mentioned elsewhere that I'm re-evaling my daily CCW choice. I have a wide variety of options on hand and really haven't given some of them an honest work out to see what the plusses and minuses are.

Since I was heading to my mother's for the 4th of July for a week of R&R I decided to dig deep into the safe and pull out one of those long-forgotten acquisitions I made some years back. Mom has black bear somewhat routinely coming onto her property to raid the fruit trees and since I was tenting in the front yard I chose the Dan Wesson Heritage with Crimson Trace grips. Friend of mine was the original owner. He put one box of Hornady through it and decided to go another way. He ended up with an EMP in .40 S&W and I ended up with the DW Heritage, high quality leather shoulder and belt holsters, 6 mags total and some ammo for $1200. I was happy with that deal.

What it was loaded with during the trip:

Each day I would drive about 3 miles from her place, let the girls out and walk 3-4 + miles on some very secluded trails the state kept somewhat cleared for cross country skiing. I've been going to this same spot for years and have never met another person there.

In the foreground is a 'purebred' blue heeler corgi crossbreed. Very popular in parts of Idaho with folks that have livestock. Ahead of her is an AKC registered Pembroke Corgi (the smaller of the two Corgi breeds). Most folks don't know that Corgi's are actually working dogs meant to heard cattle and sheep and make great backcountry/woods trail companions.

The DW carried well on the right hip in the Blackhawk Italian made leather holster and there's a definite difference in weight between it and the .327FM SP101 I normally have on. The DW would also require more effort to conceal appropriately. I will probably have to look at a Commander sized option. Might head to the range tomorrow and possibly get reacquainted with the DW's recoil and general shooting characteristics.
