Cross bow sticker shock

I talked to TenPoint this week about my old Stealth 2. They advised me as long as there was wasn't any visible frays or splinters on the limbs (checked with a piece of cotton) my crossbow is still good to go. My crossbow passed this cotton test. I asked if the limbs had lost their strength over the years and was told said they have not. What they did tell me is that the string and cables will stretch over the years and recommended I send the limb assembly in to them for a string and cable replacement. I had this done once before and I think the cost was under $200.00 which is better than $4,700.

No, it's not going to be the latest and greatest super sonic crossbow. But I have taken deer with compounds much slower.

I try to fly fish when I have time. Tie my own flies and all. My whole setup including waders and goofy hat was about $200 maybe less. I have caught fish on streams where guys had 5 grand in a single rod. It’s always very satisfying to do with my junk what somebody else is doing with their world class kit. Kinda like shooting my $500 AR built from used bits and pieces alongside truly nice rifles and beating the pants off of those rifles.

Same here. Caught my first fish on a fly at 13 and shot my first deer at 15. Still love to do both. I think that I paid $39 for a Fenwick graphite blank in the mid 80's and wrapped it myself.. Still use it. You couldn't put all of the trout that it has caught in a semi trailer.
