Hey guys,

I do a quarterly internet hunt for the discontinued Federal 9mm HTC 147+P JHP ammo.
A couple of days ago in my latest search, these guys popped up.
Headquartered in Anoka, Minnesota, Federal Ammo.

They had the above-mentioned ammo in stock and at a price point unseen in yrs!
I even sent them an email to double-check, in a few hrs (late night) they hit me back and gave me the okay it was in stock & my shipping timeline!:uhoh:

The kicker was they don't accept checks, money orders, debit/credit cards, nor allow local pickup.
All transactions must be handled online with ONLY, "Cryptocurrency - Ethereum (0.070399 ETH), Bitcoin (0.00377624 BTC).

Does anyone have any experience with them or heard of this outfit?

THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM. I have edited the hyperlink so clicking it will not work.
https://federalammunitions.com

Thanks,

Reg

Years ago when cryptocurrency was even less legit than it barely is now, I came upon a CL ad for a junky car I was mildly interested in.

The first sentence was “This is not a scam”. The second sentence was “I only accept cryptocurrency”.

I called the number that was listed just for fun and in typical CL fashion, the number could not be reached as dialed.

You really have to ask?

Does anyone have any experience with them or heard of this outfit?

Poor spelling/ grammar. And right there in the url. Strike one.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Strike two.

I even sent them an email to double-check, in a few hrs (late night) they hit me back and gave me the okay it was in stock & my shipping timeline!:uhoh:

Strike two-and-a-half. Legitimate businesses conduct business during normal, customary hours for that industry.

The kicker was they don't accept checks, money orders, debit/credit cards, nor allow local pickup.
All transactions must be handled online with ONLY, "Cryptocurrency - Ethereum (0.070399 ETH), Bitcoin (0.00377624 BTC).

Legitimate businesses will accept more normal forms of payment. Strike three.

One of the first things I do if I suspect a site is scroll to the bottom and look for their physical address. If it’s not there I look under “Contact”. I then plug that address in to Google Maps or Apple Navigator and do a street view of the address. If it appears legit then I go and look at payment methods. If they don’t take credit cards, it’s over. If they do I then do a search on them looking for “reviews”. If they have positive feedback then I may give them a try.
In the past two years I have encountered lots of scammers.

Sigh...

I am not sure, in 2022, why people are even asking these questions anymore.

Don't be so desperate and gullible to fall for this stuff. The world of "the nice man on the internet has the ammo/primers that I want for a great price" has long since departed.

Place in-stock alerts with known vendors (Midway, SG, Aim, Natchez, etc.) and just wait until what you "need" is available.

I really can’t believe the volume of “Is This Utterly Obvious Scam a Scam?” threads I’m still seeing on all gun forums.

I always thought this sort of scamming would be fairly time intensive for the crooks, but it actually must be the easiest money around.

These fake guns and ammo sites are targeting the same older people who fall for phone scams.

They are easy money and once set up, rarely shut down or prosecuted. LE doesn't care, not worth their effort.
